Ul'dah gets my pants all wet.
Gridania, or Ul'dah. I'd be able to settle on one if my current computer could run XIV :/
limsa only because it reminds me of the ffxi sandy
Alrighty, the leves in Gridania have officially changed my mind. It seems as if they have made the wolf placements WORSE.
One tiny benefit of Gridania is that it's really hard to miss leve treasures on those narrow paths of The Black Shroud.
^ Very true. I'm sticking with grid. None of them are particularly awesome, and starting city means NOTHING in this game when there's no real alliegances in place (right now). There isn't even a racial gathering in each city - just a random smattering of all the races. Since you can do leves from each area, the only remaining reason, I guess, is just the storyline quests, and I like where grid's is going right now.
I could use some advice for me city
I plan to be gladiator main with conjurer and armorer
So pros and cons for each
Limsa
Pro. I know the city well
armorer guild is there
I know the leveling spots well
Con. Ihate pirates
Uldah.
Pro gladiator guild
There are marmots for Gil
EAsy to go to Limsa if ship stays free
No cons because I never played there
Gridania
Pro. Conjurer guild is there
Love the story with moogles
Cons. Leaves sucks there
I hate windurst
Long to run to the other cities on foot
So I was planning to do
Start in grid do first mission there and first leaves then riun to Limsa
Unless there is something I am missing

I don't think you can switch cities, so sadly you are stuck where you are until they allow it If it wasn't for the horrid leves and how much i have to waste on anima getting from city to city I would stay in Grid. Hopefully airships and choco will relieve that pain but I doubt they will allow access at lower levels.
No what I mean is I wonder if I should start in Gridania for the story then run to Limsa and stay in limsa for leaves and XP
What I personally do currently is that I just travel between every city and do 3 leves in two of them and 2 in one, that way I get 8 battlecraft leves done and max efficiency. So from my perspective it wouldn't matter where you start except for the questline, because you'll have to go to every city in a regular basis, but if you play differently and feel comfortable staying around one city most of the time, then you can probably do like you said yourself in the post above.
Well the thing left to see is how much the ferry will cost in retail, I doubt it wil lstay free for long
What is the deal with Disciples of war/magic guilds? You can eventually get credits to buy stuff from them from leves? Or can do quests only associated with that job if you are high enough in it?
Yes. Leves rated Rank ~20 and on will randomly reward Guild Marks instead of gil.
(I've seen a Rank~10 in Phase-3 beta have a Guild Mark reward, but not yet in Open Beta)
God damnit again. I didn't mean to reply.
