An Outline and Introduction:

Nakama

In Japanese, Nakama [仲間] (n) means colleague, compatriot, associate, group, circle of friends, or comrade.

I. Are you the Ideal Applicant?


We start out with this topic simply because we believe your time is valuable. If you find that you do not exhibit or agree with most of the following comments, then we thank you for coming by and giving us a look over and ask that you would recommend us to others that you feel may fit our mold.

1. Experience, in some form, is a strong plus. We prefer members who have had experience in other games similar to FFXIV in their chosen role. Having said that, experience is not a requirement if you can show adept skill and wariness in a trial event environment.

2. Personal attention to gear choice is important. Everyone is expected to know their role and use the proper equipment/modifications.

3. We are all adults that prefer to do events with adults. Although our Linkshell minimum age is 18, we are willing to consider very mature 16+.

4. Consistency is important. We prefer Members who can be in our events 75%+ of the time. We do not have any hard-core rules on participation except that we expect communication if you will be gone for an extended time and that you do your best to form your schedule so that you can consistently make event times.

5. Teachability and flexibility is a major plus. We want skilled, knowledgeable players, yet it’s possible someone here can offer a valuable suggestion or two. We need players who can take kind criticism properly and who can be flexible for the betterment of the Linkshell. It may be that we ask you to consider switching classes for a certain encounter. Ideally we would like Members to have ready and enjoy playing multiple roles/classes.

6. We like leaders. Our Linkshell was created and formed by a group of leaders all of whom assist one another in the leadership. Although every Linkshell has a GM, in Nakama we are lead by a leadership of 2 who confer with our Officers in leadership decisions. Member input is crucial to us and we expect you to not just play with Nakama but to “own” it.


II. Our History


Nakama in Guild form has always been relatively small. Our core group has been gaming together for upwards of 10 years now. While we have strayed because of playtimes/needs we have always maintained a close relationship with one another. The majority of us have had extensive MMO experience in all areas of play from Asheron's Call, FFXI, WoW and Aion to name some.
Given our anticipation for FFXIV and our playstyles we have chosen to come together and create a Linkshell that not only accommodates our needs but the playstyles/times of others with "odd" hours of play. The name Nakama was assumed simply because of what we are and what we wish to be about.


III. Our Purpose
Nakama was formed before the release of Final Fantasy XIV with three purposes in mind:

1. To reunite a core group of excellent veteran leaders and players who happen to be real-life friends.

2. To grow and form a cohesive group of Members who are like-minded and eager to experience whatever FFXIV has to offer us.

3. To enjoy end-game content without the raid burnout, drama, DKP, and constant turn-over rate of many end-game guilds.


IV. Our Activity

Events:
Our event times will be held in the range of 6AM-1PM PST with days being determined by content type/requirements.

Loot System:
Loot system will be outlined once type of content and group size for events are known. Expect it to be something loosely point based to reward players who are often there but nothing overly complicated.


Out-of-Events:
The majority of us are RL friends and therefore naturally offer to assist in the leveling and gearing of each other and "Friends and Family" members. These are casual players who we invite in for social purposes but are not a part of our Events core.
Even though we will most likely only be holding events a few days a week, many of us will no doubt enjoy many aspects of the game involving a necessity for unplanned group activities.

Our Outlook:
While we do wish to create a group of Members who enjoy playing together in a casual, friendly and laid back environment. We do aim to be a top Linkshell on our given server in terms of progression while maintaining our semi-casual playstyle.

V. Our Application Process:

1. Read this entire thread.
2. Fill out an application which can found here after joining our site.
2. After a quick evaluation of your app we will either ask you to Trial here at Nakama or we will file your application for the future and recommend that you continue your Linkshell search.
3. In the trial process you will be considered a priority back-up Member. This means that we will be working hard to get you into every event possible knowing that we reserve the right to have you sit out should there not be any means to include you. The period of your trial can last as short as 1 week and as long as 4 weeks. During this process our leadership will be making evaluations and suggestions.

Yah, the old school valefor Nakama is still in contact with each other and regathering. Not an attempt to sidetrack this thread, but yeah the Valefor shell is alive and kicking.
