Windows movie maker replacmeent

Basically, my shitty cam records all my files in .mov, and it's becoming a hassle to convert every time before I can start editing it.

Looking for something that this won't be a problem in that also has a friendly user interface. I like how I could take the audio and video sep and just split/combine at any point.

Any suggestions?

You will not find anything, free or otherwise, that works natively with .mov in a friendly way. It's a shit format.
