I noticed there was an 8.6gb patch the last night (havent played because of cata). Among other things, does this patch make the chat log less intrusive and part of the game vs its own feature that locks you out of doing anything else?

Aaauuugghhh two of my friends got into the beta, I want in goddamnit
No more manly batgirl voice
Insane, you know if they had a patch notes up for the update? 8.6gb is huge to be only voice clips. And their site is down.
I haven't updated myself yet but I looked around for details.
-/pvp on and off
-Marketplace button
-Placeholder voices are gone
-basic stats to weapon trees etc
-guilds
and some other things.
batgirl and harley were awesome though (haha). In some dialogue it would be the original VA, and in some it was a dude.
Glad those things are being added. Some of the shit that annoyed me is its sometimes hard to tell a PC from a NPC, and I'd atk a flagged person not even knowing it. If chat is fixed then the game will be much more fluid and "mmo" feeling.. I'll look forward to seeing some of the changes later this week when I play again.
btw - is there a way to make the chat box bigger?
Need a BG guild on PVE server then.
YES, my friend gave me his beta stuff since he can't run it
Is it CB or pre order beta that he gave you?
cb?
Idunno but im downloading that 13gb patch @_@
Real CB is servers 1-2, Pre-order CB is server 3-4 i think

Yes, after a last minute delay pushed the MMO from Sony Online Entertainment past its original November launch, the company announced DC Universe Online is coming Jan. 11, 2011 for both PC and the PlayStation 3. If you live in the UK, look for the game on Jan. 14, 2011. Sadly, there was no word on an Australian release date.
DC Universe Online is an MMO where players can create their own villains and heroes and set out to make their name known under the tutelage of Batman, the Joker, Superman and so on. The PC version of the game will cost $49.99 and the PS3 version will cost $59.99. Both come with a free 30-day subscription to the MMO, but after that, the game will cost $15 (€13) a month – or $199 (€180) for a lifetime subscription.
We even have the PlayStation 3 Trophy list, if that's your thing.
These details are no doubt exciting after months of waiting, but we at IGN wanted more. So, we fired off some questions to DC Universe Online Game Director Chris Cao – questions about what reward beta testers can expect, what he thinks of the subscription fee, and much more.

have they made the chat function more user friendly? I haven't played since Cata, but it was so bad before that it was a major hindrance to me wanting to buy the game
I've been playing this on and off since i got it for free being a playstation plus user....does it get better past like 10? I can't really define "better" but.....its mostly just a repolished city of heroes to me so far... (though the origonal voice actors are awsome, and the story is believable so far). gameplay is somewhat wonky....i hope it doesn't suffer the same fate as ffxiv did...it seems like a game with a lot of potential.
EDIT There is one thing i LOVE about the game though...even though its a glitch. Whenever you punch a car, do damage to a car, TOUCH a car....the driver inside deems it a good time to HOLY FUCK FLOOR it, ramming into other cars, causing a chain reaction then exploding in a gigantic fire ball. Probably get patched soon though....
He's got some gameplay online as well.
The leveling process went from enjoyable to a grind. The end game is tedious, filled with waiting (even for duos) and the gear upgrades are marginal compared to the higher level greens and blues I'm sporting. To do solo content at max level, you're required to chug colas every other trash pack and the amount of money made per mission doesn't even cover 1/10 of the cola cost. I just don't see how they can sustain subscriptions with the game in the current state.
isnt end game supposed to be for full grps or raids or w/e they are called? And, just curious, how is the game a grind.. or do you run out of missions and just have to kill stuff ? Because at 13ish I was still flooded w/ more missions then I could do before out lving them
No, you can level through missions the entire way as long as you do the majority of the side quests. The problem is that after 20, many of the trash mobs are so overpowered that a pack of 2 or 3 are likely to kill you in seconds. It really takes away from the enjoyability of later instances.
