I've never experienced getting less SP than the rest of the PT, except when I'm lower level than the rest. For example I was R45 in a PT consisting of mostly 48-49 people yesterday and got shit SP.
That could be my problem. I was within range but was frequently on the lower end of the scale.
I was in a party today and did not experience the problem. In fact, aside from tanks, I had among the highest SP gains. I was the only pure DD in the party, that may have had something to do with it. Was right in the middle of the level range I think.
Can any archers out there tell me how Chameleon works? (lvl26 skill). Does it work like THF hide in FFXI where it puts you off the hate list?
I'm pretty sure it doesn't remove you from the hate list (like Hide) or reset your hate (like Super Jump). It seems to be like a reverse FFXI Provoke; it just lowers your current enmity a bit.
FF14 Provoke seems to force the mob to temporarily target the voker, but this doesn't seem to force them NOT to target you, or anything like that. Sometimes I use it and the mob turns away... other times, it keeps hitting me.
So I hear that Shrieker was nerfed? What did it do before?
Right now, it seems like the correct description for it should be "Deals damage."
Rank 24 arc here. Also a 23 crp who is making obsidian arrows. Problem is, I switch from warped to obsidian arrows and I see really no difference in damage! The test mobs were all blue con (fungars outside of Tranquil camp). Accuracy difference may be there, but I would need a parser to tell as its not obvious as I think it should be when switching from a rank 1 arrow to a rank 17 arrow.
Anyone else been playing with various arrows?
How long does decoy last? Hoping for a pretty long timer as opposed to a 30sec-60sec thing.
Not sure, only 30 ARC atm, but Diversion lasts for 60 seconds.
Any good solo spots for a 27 ARC?
Also, I have a few different stacks of different types of arrows. I'm hoping to see if they make as much difference as their stats imply.

Upgrade time is coming, and i am thinking it will be one of the last major upgrades, I can't figure out what to get.

Any suggestions? I assume the Weevil bow is going to be an insane pain in the ass to keep repairing and it also seems to look like it's 4x more expensive then the Elm one. Suggestions?
While the Weevil bow has high att, the elm one has better acc so you should decide what you prefer although att probably would be best if your acc doesn't sucks and since acc is easy obtained by gear against att.
About the repair, the weevil is easy to repair. The material can be farmed of Bumble beetles near the starting cities and has more or less the same lvl rank of carpenter repair.
What's the best equip for archer in the 30s? I'm still using the same junk my conjurer used for its high DEF (canvas cowl), but it's time to ditch the MND and PIE gear for STR etc. My STR/DEX are currently capped so it hasn't been an issue so far, but soon STR won't be capped unless I sacrifice DEX from my GLD.
AFAIK, there are three lines of relevant body armor for ARC:
tunic (Trapper's Tunic, Tracker's Tunic, etc.): STR + DEX
chainmail (Sentinel's Chainmail, Mercenary's Chainmail, etc.): STR + HP
tabard (Canvas Tabard, Velveteen Tabard, etc.): STR + VIT
For head, cloth scarves (STR) or eyepatches (STR+DEX) are good. For legs, stick with trousers line (STR+VIT). For feet, leggings line gives good HP+MP bonuses, while vambrace or armguard lines give HP in the hand slot.
Thanks, good post. I guess I'll go with tabards for now because my DEX is capped until like the mid 40s. Unless chainmails tend to have higher STR stats.
Chameleon seems to operate as a small reduction in total enmity as posted above. It is possible to rip hate off someone else, use Chameleon, and retain hate for quite some time.
Out of Sight has a noticeable effect on overall enmity generation -- for example, as a LNC offtanking, it is nearly impossible to retain hate for an extended period of time against someone else without Out of Sight who is performing similar actions, i.e. Taunt, Provoke, and general damage-dealing abilities.
Decoy may have been broken at some point in time, but now it definitely absorbs regular ranged attacks (Gnat's Shockbreath, Dodore's Seismic Scream, Grass Raptor's Foul Breath [not the TP move, just the ranged attack]) as well as magic spells (elementals' nukes, Dodore's Scourge II/Shadowsear), but not any kind of TP move tested thus far.

Yeah infact I'm surviving pulling threat on orange/red con mobs as archer... at least they can't laugh at me for being dead, only complain about me pulling threat >.>
