I just hope the hats and stuff do not affect the game like the items and shit affect TF2. Just hearing about all the random item drops and crafting and shit in TF2 turns me off so much, I don't play games like that to have to farm items to be competitive, I play games like that because they offer an environment where you can be competitive without having to farm for X items every Y update(s).

I can't help but think of old school Age of Empires 2 custom scenarios when I think dota. Archer's Hellfire, DBZ, etc. No clue why though.

Yeah and LoL just got picked up by MLG which is obviously going to be a pretty big deal for the competitive community, so it's going to put even more pressure on DOTA2 being F2P.

On topic, I don't see how they can bring it out as anything but F2P. Stealing away most of LoL's market is going to be a difficult thing, since it has such a good following and it's free. Between offering the same price and the Valve name behind it, they have a very good chance. As for HoN, I don't see any hope of them being around for another year after DOTA2's release.
