New PC Build - In time for FFXIV

I'm coming back to gaming with a bang.
This is my projected build - any and all feedback is welcome.

PS - I'm also in the market for a new screen. 22inch (max: my desk cant fit larger ) with hdmi is ideal.

Sooooooo glad I'm a Comp Sci major, $140 for an OS? I'd be forced to pirate before giving up that much...

    Overall the build looks great.

Get this CPU heatsink, but don't buy on Newegg as they jacked the price after MaxPC said it was one of the best HSFs they've ever reviewed:

    http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-.../dp/B002G1YPH0

    It's also cheaper than yours.

aaaarrrrggghhhhh micro center just sold out of their core i7 930s

ill have to wait and see if they get more in - and stay at their $199 price tag

also, i think i decided to go with a gtx 480 -- however i am re-thinking my mother board choice... i dunno if i want the open box vs the retail box vs the rage iii extreme or if there is a better over all choice D:

Are you sure...? unless it's a dinky-ass midtower or something, that shouldn't happen.

I've got the heatsink Wulfgang linked in an Antec Nine Hundred (Which is a pretty typical sized tower) with no issues.

BTW, before I'd go and drop that kind of money on a power supply, I'd calculate to see whether you need that much power. My main computer runs just fine on a 450W power supply, and online calculators say a 350W would work too. Granted, I didn't put any optical drives or non-SSD hard drives in my computer (A decision I'm glad I made), but that system looks like it'd run fine on a 550W.

from reading these 2 reviews of the case i want

    http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1044/4/
"The panel is able to be put on, but it's quite literally sitting on the top of the cooler. A hit to the side while transporting the case will cause an issue for sure. So, no coolers over 150mm in height if you plan on using the side fan. If you yank out the side fan, then you’re good to 165mm tall coolers. This is not a mark against the case, this is an issue with all cases that have side panel fans; most side fans cannot coexist with a tall CPU cooler."

    http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.ph...1&limitstart=5
"- Side panel fan can conflict with tall CPU coolers"

so i guess i just need to find another case D:
or a slightly smaller cooling option

Get a corsair H50. Also, ATI so far has proven much better for FFXIV than Nvidia. Perhaps when open beta starts new shit will come to light.

FYI MicroCenter's i7 930 normal price is $199 and has been since at least early July. I wouldn't worry about it changing price anytime soon.

H70 is absolutely crushing the H50 and running right with the Noctua D14

Get a Cooler Master HAF 932 Full or Mid and a Noctua NH-up12 (the DH-14 is too big and not needed) You'll be sailng pretty much to any OC you want with that cooler and CPU combo and w/ a 480 u have my exact build almost i am hitting these numbers with a very light OC @3.4ghz.

I just really hope I didn't gimp the shit outta my system with the motherboard :/ I couldn't figure out which one to get, and I wanted to save a few dollars and it was recommended by Tom's Hardware... It should be ok.. but it is the only part that gives me an uneasy feeling...
Oh well I just got to wait for all the parts to come in and see how it goes.

I would like to overclock some and sli down the road.
