Just a suggestion but if you end up having to pay for something, I'd check out http://www.bluepearl-skins.com/brands/vBulletin.html/ (all updated to 4.0.6) - seems like you'd get a set of colors for skins for one (cheaper) price and I think from what can be seen they look a lot better than the samples from completevb

that skin is not vb405+ compatible.

I get a free skin, it updates when either I or ragn does the update (sometimes easy) or when they release a new XML file with all the fixes and tweaks in it
I pay for a skin, I get the update to the skin immediately

Im liking the new image uploading system.

basically once you pick the image it caches it to the server, if you click on the little pencil in the upper left it gives you the option of selecting what size it outputs at and then what alignment it has

Default skin is UGhhhhhhhh. Looking forward to something better, because i don't know how it could be worse unless you used hello kitty colors. Other than look, functionality seems fine.

I noticed something. The find all posts button in my user profile only shows posts made after the update. I can't easily find my recent posts anymore.

Books don't have bright paper nor give off light.

I haven't noticed a brightness change, but years ago I changed my computer to deal with it. I don't use white backgrounds on my computer for reading. For paper it works, but for a screen, I'd rather not be trying to read text of a lit lightbulb. My computer overrides everything on the screen to be a black background with lit text, including this web page. All I noticed was that everything was spaced farther apart and the design looks more boxy.

All the web browsers now have color overrides. Start using them and find a color scheme that works nicely for you. Otherwise you can get hit by painful color schemes, like the Peach Pink one a forum I'm on uses to discipline misbehaving users (it's pink background with yellow text). The admins on that forum don't believe in banning anything but ad bots. Instead they implement Admin Abuse, by locking the user's forum theme, signature, title, and avatar into something of their own choosing that shames the user. They remove it when they start behaving again, or leave it there if the user leaves on their own.

There's the color layout I currently have set. It's much easier on the eyes. Some people find a yellower text easier, and some people lean towards the blue a bit more. Blue-green is the best spectrum of the average human's vision range.

Few pages late here, but if you click Settings on the top right it will take you to the UserCP.

I will join the legions of people begging for a new skin. Did we manage to salvage the smileys or are we stuck with the lame default ones for now? If that doesn't work I'm going to be very upset.

Reading is hard.

VB3 was basically being discontinued on a fast track. The company that bought VB started shifting to VB4 and were letting security lapse on vb3 pretty quickly. Ragn was picking it up himself but it basically became a requirement to upgrade as the VB3 liscense wasnt going to be extended for free as with previous versions.

I am aware that many of you dislike the skin, however it is a nice skin, just very flashbang. There is a dark skin, ragn just hasnt loaded it yet.

Sonomaa: really need a dark skin though
