Exit into Thanalan (forgot which gate), then try to come back in Ul'dah at the zoneline, should give you a "Duty calls" menu.

The camera follow in XI is a LOT 'floatier' feeling and follows much more comfortably. If you run directly at the camera in XI, it'll rotate around behind you fairly quickly. Not so in XIV - and the difference is a bad one.
Arrow key cam would make the difference between two-hands and one hand for basic navigation.
The mouse is an unresponsive, chuggy POS. In addition, mouselook and keyboard move = 2 hands = bad

God, I fucking hate whoever wrote the passive AI for most of the god damn mobs. There were a couple guild leves where I swear to god these 2 goats had me on /follow. I engaged my guildleve mobs (which were in groups of 3, fairly weak, low HP mobs - i.e. the ideal for AoE attacks) and wherever I pulled them these two freaking goats that had nothing to do with the leve would follow me. I'd run till I nearly lost aggro on the leve mobs and the damn goats kept running after me, and staring me in the face while I was fighting.
It keeps happening to me with the Ul'dah leves, and it's really annoying on Marauder.
I swear at one point I nearly yelled "GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME" at my screen. /nerdrage
I think it's also different depending on the mob, and the range is kinda sensitive at times. The new burrow attack they added on moles, for example, you can dodge by just running away from it. It's probably just a coincidence, but I tend to only dodge it when I run not too little, but not too much. Just enough time to run back, turn around and wait for a second or two. I also noticed they sometimes surface where they burrowed and sometimes they move underground and sort of follow you in the direction you were going for a bit. It looks like it's probably a timing thing. It has been brought up many times that you can avoid certain enemy abilities (like the marmot TP move) by stepping to the side or something, how exactly do you do that? Like do you have to unlock your target and run 2 miles to the side or what? Because when I'm fighting (and locked to the target), it doesn't seem to work if you just move to the side of the mob when the ability is loading/being launched, as the mob just turns my way and launches it's move without any problems.
So is there a certain timing or such on this? Stupid question and it might just be me sucking for many various reasons but I've tried it like fucking many times and never succeeded.. and yeah I've tried it just on the abilities that have been mentioned here.
i always ran places in first person, then popped into 3rd when i got there, so i dont really have that problem, mouse is slow still but i never used it in ffxi and dont want to on 14 either, tho have had to a couple of times due to crappy targeting which seems to have problems right now in first person view
Got used to the UI and mouse now. My mouse hand never leave the mouse. I configured a side button of mu mouse to emulate "num-" which brings up the right menu. It's much more enjoyable now.
LOL Thank you for this, put a nice smile on my face this morning. I know what you mean, it is very annoying. It wasnt a problem in the last phases because your aoe would not hit mobs outside of the leve, I got a nice surprise my first leve when I got aggro from two noisy coblyn.
Same with me in every other MMO besides ffxi and ffxiv. Just as the other person said, first person for mevement and 3rd person for fighting and such is the way to go. Fuck the mouse and wasd. There is just something about FF's first person that I enjoy and makes travel so much better for me.
New patch incoming. Launcher Patch, red window.
Can we move with the mouse yet?
patch stuck at 94.6% again >.>
Also stuck at 94.6%, and so is a friend.
lol the patch to stop all the frozen updates is... frozen.
Use utorrent to bypass it, took all of 10 seconds.
Seriously, the stuck at % should be bannable or something. That's so interesting, especially since the fix is right there on this forum.
Thank god for utorrent <3
Also, there is one launcher patch and one game patch. Both less than 5mb.
I'm uploading it on mediafire as usual, but ffs, the fix is simple.
