Favorite party. Cloud, Red XIII and Tifa.
I loved all of them as characters and their limit breaks were pretty damn awesome. Though Cosmo Memory wasn't really all that great. /Nostalgia

Cloud, Tifa, Yuffie
ive been playing this game all last week and this week. sitting on disk3 with i have had cloud barret and cid as my main group because their end-game limit breaks are decent multi-hit damage
I don't know what's going on here but Cloud/Cid/Gun-arm jive-talkin' motherfucker was the best party for everything ever.
They were too good. Just don't bother getting the black man's level 4, stick with ungarmax forever... or get it, but then switch back later, either way.
Cloud, Cid, and Yuffie for maxing out Materia. Cloud/Cid were only characters that got a Triple Growth weapon. Yuffie got a decent Double Growth weapon but she was also the best Morph user in the game.
Cloud, Cid, and Barret for straight annihilation. Ungarmax + Mime and never look back.
GUST OF WIND DANCE
I never realized people took stats in these games seriously. Every character can use kotr and mime (and in VIII anyone can use aura), so what's the difference?
just beat emerald weapon few min ago, party setup was:
Cloud Lv 75 materia: Speed Plus , Luck Plus , Double Cut , Counter Attack , Counter Attack , HP Plus
Barret Lv 74 materia: Magic Counter + Commet , W-Item , HP Plus , Magic Plus
Cid Lv 76 materia: Counter Attack , Counter Attack , Counter Attack , Double Cut , Enemy Skill , HP Plus
Beat him in 10min flat.
Was a pretty fun fight!
now for ruby weapon and his cheating ass Arrrgggh!
Cloud Aeris Tifa (Early discs)
Cloud Yuffie Vincent (Later on)
Lawl I never used cid. I just did cloud barret and tifa cause that was my starting group. I never tend to switch things up after getting new characters
i went with these my first playthrough, because i was going for who i liked the best.
as much as i adore him, though, vincent's limit breaks got on my nerves. i don't like being unable to control someone in important fights. so i switched him out for cid my next playthrough. i definitely wasn't as fond of cid, but i liked him better in a party.
