    Opinions on this computer

    AMD Phenom II 1035T Six-Core 2.60GHz
    RAM 6GB DDR3
    ATI Radeon HD 5450

This setup is about 750$ where I live, If I was to grab this how would it benchmark for ff14? Is it a good core set-up to start with and just upgrade the video card?

Also I have a Geforce gts250 that I tryed to use in my old computer but its not cutting it there due to the computer being older, how much would this card improve the above set-up?

    Thanks for any info

I'm not too sure about your specific system but I've always found tomshardware to give me a good idea where a system stands when I'm not quite sure.
Here's a decent article I think may help you or you can always simply compare two CPU's / video cards against each other in there 'charts' section at the top of the page.

    Good luck sir.

Everything is good except the graphic card is total garbage, also change the 6-core to a quad phenom II or i7-930. Get a higher radeon 5850+ or a gtx460+ and your good to go.

to answer the original question, if you put your GTS 250 in that setup it would play FFXIV no prob on about medium settings. you would probably want to upgrade it eventually. also I dont know why a quad core phenom II is more expensive than a six core. most people would probably rather have a 6 core if you can overclock it.

I think with the gts 250 in the above setup the score would be about 3500 on low 2000 on high.

@Elites I just see it in futureshop.ca listed at 429.99

@ufo Thanks for the estimate, really you only think about 3500 with the gts250 in that? My current computer hits 2300ish, makes me wonder if 3500 is that much better?

3500 was an estimate i came up with from this list: http://www.ffxivcore.com/topic/7393-...pu-score-list/

What may hold you back on that PC is the low stock clock speed of 2.6ghz on the 1035t. If it has a motherboard that can overclock it should be just fine though.

If you're still watching phenom cpu's wait until after Sept 21st. AMD has their new line of processors coming out then and the prices should drop.

    How about this computer:

HP Elite Intel Core i7-860 Computer (HPE-372F)
    Processor Speed 2.80 GHz
    Processor Cores 4
RAM 8 GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM (Expandable to 16 GB)
    Graphics ATI Radeon HD 5770

    That package is about 1000$~

Should hit 4000-5500 benchmark on low and run 14 like a dream no?

Run 14 like a dream? depends on what your dreaming of. You won't hate the game at least.

You probably should try to get a HD 5800 series card to run the game like a dream. Maybe downgrade the ram to 4gb and upgrade the card with the money saved.

Well this above is a package deal from future shop, with a deal of a price to. But I do see ur point id really like to get the 8550 card in it.

Anyway for ram you really think anything over 4GB is not gonna make a difference in ffxiv?

Over 4GB wont make a difference in FFXIV. If it's that great of a deal where you live then go for it, it's a much better package than the original system you posted. You could always sell the 5770 down the road if you feel like you want an upgrade. I think the benchmark would be 4500+ on low but the 5770 will bottleneck on high and it will be about 2700.
