Well you can skip the first game anyways since MK2 takes place in an alt universe. There are some nudges to the first, but that's it(would seem).

If they put Neptunia dialogue in mk2 this game would be even better, mk2 is nowhere near as funny as 1st one, nor are there as many references. Mk2 looks and plays better though, skip function is still in mk2 too if you want battles to go faster, but compared to the 1st, mk2 is a bit more enjoyable and it feels more faster too. Dungeons still look a bit plain and boring too but still a big step up from Neptunia's shitty dull dungeons.

Everything is basically a big step up from Neptunia besides the dialogue which took a step backwards, in mk2 you probably won't see many references and funny shit till near the end of the game and on certain endings, the best event in the game is probably LAN Party, which is True Ending, that one was pretty funny and quite a bit of references.

Nope, there's bosses in the second game named CFW Trick, CFW Magic, CFW Judge and CFW Brave. And yes, it's explicitly stated that the CFW is short for Custom Firmware.
