WHY. I can think of like 10 different things that would be a better idea to do with the money for this project.

I care not, I own the original game. I'm just posting here to say that it'll likely be one of the few good 3DS games out for a while so any early adopters who don't still have their PS2s should pick it up.

Tales of Abyss was pretty good but the thing that killed it for me on ps2 was the lag and game bugs. Hopefully 3ds port will be smooth.

Just fully 100% agreeing with the above.

And seeing as I don't plan to own a 3DS for a long while, I will be passing anyway. This does makes me sad, though. Those idiots at Namco will probably use the poor (probably) sales of this game as an excuse to not give us more tales games. Sigh.

As stupid as Namco can be, I doubt they're expecting too many sales on a brand new system that's already selling poorly. They likely just saw it as easy money since the game was already completely translated.

    I sure hope so.

(I like the part where your post could be referring to Vesperia and still make 100% sense. Minus the brand new system part. But still.)

I never played this one, but I do like Tales games. I'm not sure if I'll get this though due to the lack of co-op, but I'd like to buy it to at least feel like I'm helping get more Tales games over here.

Semi-spoilerish (kinda?) but... eh, the game's old.

The first thing I want to say is that Luke has some pretty good reasons for being who he is (you'll see them if you play the game)

Hmm, Luke is sorta emo (if that's what you want to call it) for a bit in the game, but not very long. At the start of the game he's more of a whiny brat and after something big happens he goes slightly emo for a bit and it's actually somewhat understandable. Think Edge in SO4's emoness but not to the same degree, similar reason too.

Also, it doesn't really last that long and after all that he starts to actually become a likable character because he starts to grow the fuck up.

Jade made TotA for me, with a side of wanting to bang Tear. Kinda tempted to start up a replay.

Either way, yeah, Luke goes through some phases of somewhat understandable growth and torment.

    Spoiler: show
While Asche had some right to be mad with Luke more or less stealing his life, any hardships he later brought on to himself were pretty much his doing. He could've came home sooner, but chose not to. He could've led a better life, but instead acted as more of a puppet. For all the grief he gave Luke, it struck me more as projecting his anger in being such a pussy. With just a few different choices in life, he could've very well wound up a king instead of as he did.
