As with past Gundam Musou games, Gundam Musou 3 uses the
"field system." The areas of play are split into fields, some with
special facilities. Conquer these special fields and you could gain
some advantages.
Examples of facilities include the "Catapult." Conquer the field with
this facility, and you'll gain the ability to jump instantly to other
fields. There's also the Communications Facility. Capture this, and
you'll be able to call out reinforcements.
New elements for Gundam Musou 3 include:
Partner Strike
During battle, you can call out a character as a partner. Each
partner gives different benefits and has its own cinematic way of
showing up on the battle field. Wing Gundam Zero's Heero Yuy
attacks your current target with his beam, making him good for
use against a boss. Psycho Gundam's Four Murasame does a wide
spread attack, useful for conquering a particular field.
To use the Partner Strike, you'll need to build up a partner gauge.
This can be done by collecting "Partner Call" items by defeating
enemies or by conquering an Outpost Facility field. You can use the
Partner Strike when the gauge is full.
Energy Dash
Gundam Musou lets players make more advanced use of thrusters.
You can perform a dash during standard attacks and while
undergoing damage (while in the middle of damage motion). This
allows you to more skillfully evade attack and perform previously
impossible combos. To use the Energy Dash during your attacks,
press Square (X on X360) to attack, then X (A on X360) to cancel
the attack and dash.
Outside of these gameplay systems, Namco Bandai also shared new
Mobile Suits images and provided a glimpse at the game's intro.
