God Eater Burst (PSP) | Resurrection (PC/PS4/Vita)

    www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjdX7ZIHt1o

Namco Bandai provided a big update on God Eater Burst today,
sharing new story and gameplay details, and even unveiling new
bonus items. Famitsu is promising its own update on all of this
year's Monster Hunter rivals (including Monster Hunter Portable
3rd!) for later this week, so let's get up to date!

In case you haven't been keeping up, God Eater Burst is an updated
version of God Eater, which was released just this past February.
The game makes gameplay adjustments that have been heavily
requested by users and ups the volume in all areas. Current owners
will be able to upgrade via a cheap expansion disc.

Here are some of the features that were detailed today:

    New Character: Ren
Leading the way in today's updates is Ren, a mysterious new
character who's said to be central to Burst's new story
components. Ren is so mysterious that Namco Bandai isn't even
disclosing the character's gender. It's not even clear if Ren is an ally
    or enemy.

The character is voiced by Ryoko Shiraishi, a female voice actress,
although that's not necessarily an indication of character gender.

    Updated Subcharacters
If you played through the original God Eater storyline, Burst gives
some incentive to replay. The game's personable sub characters,
who fight alongside you during single player mode, have undergone
visual and voice changes. They also show a more personable side
through skills, potentially leading to greater effectiveness on the
    battle field.

Shown here (from left to right): Tatsumi, Brendan, Kareru, Shun,
    Geena and Kanon.

    Changes & Adjustments to Gameplay
Burst updates the God Eater gameplay in a number of ways.

    Examples include:

    Air Guard
You can now guard while in the air.

    Step Cancel Guard
In Burst, you can cancel your "step" evasion move and switch into a
guard. The game actually has a number of other such cancel moves
    as well.

    New "Burst Skill" Category
Burst adds a new "Burst Skill" category of skills. These can only be
    used while in Burst Mode.

    Avatar Cards
One new feature for Burst is the "Avatar Card" system. Using
Avatar Cards, players can exchange their characters with one-
another. Your friends characters appear as NPCs during single
player play, accompanying you in battle. This can be particularly
useful for beginner players, as you can have a friends' more
    powerful character fight alongside you.

There's some incentive to keep on connecting with friends even
after you've exchanged data. When you play with a friend's NPC,
you'll earn materials. These can be exchanged with the friend the
    next time you connect.

    Reformed Bullet Edit System
God Eater lets you create your own bullets, setting such things as
bullet type. In Burst, the interface for doing this has been made
more user friendly. You can more easily preview multiple bullet
    modifications, for instance.

Burst also gives you access to new bullet types. Included here are
new "Recovery Bullets." These appear in the game's single player
mode, where they're used heavily by medic characters like Sakuya.
In the Bullet Edit mode, you can make such things as a three way
recovery bullet that recovers multiple allies simultaneously, a
stationary "recovery ball" device, and a bullet that does damage to
the enemy while recovering your allies.

    New Item Synthesis System
The original God Eater let you synthesize items from materials
that you earned while out on your god eating missions. Burst adds
the ability to split items apart back into their original components.

Some materials have upper and lower levels. For example, you can
combine multiple Mahogany Chips into Mahogany, or you can split up
    Mahogany into multiple Mahogany Chips.

    Movie Archive System
Burst adds an Archive section which includes movies, BGM, NPC
    voices, Aragami voices and illustrations.

    New Bonus Items
Namco Bandai previously shared details on the game's "Premium
Character Download Card," a first print run bonus item that gives
you access to special NPC characters.
Joining bikini Arissa, butler Soma and China Dress Sakuya, we now
    have these two:

To the left, Kouta drssing up like Isamu, the main character of a
movie in the God Eater universe. To the right, sailor outfit Shio.

Here are the Arissa, Soma and Sakuya outfits in case you've
    forgotten:

God Eater Burst arrives on October 28 in retail and download form,
costing respectively ¥5,229 and ¥4,700. Current God Eater
owners will be able to buy a retail expansion version for just
    ¥2,100.

For overseas players, your first exposure to the God Eater
franchise will be through Burst, which is being released by Namco
    Bandai subsidiary D3 Publisher
There's two other things posted as well, which are: New Clothing/Equipment
and New Aragami-based Weapon Designs, but they're screens only, so you'll have to go to the link to see them + a bunch of other screens of everything that I just posted. Here's link: http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/201..._burst_update/

We already knew that the upcoming God Eater Burst demo was
going to be godly enough to put godly in the headlines describing it.
(In case you didn't know this, read this story). Today, the God Eater
Burst official blog confirmed just how godly it will be.

The demo will include the first full 29 missions of the game. You'll
find all the story sequences, equipment, materials and items that
you'll find in the final version.
You're basically getting the first part of the full spec final version.
The blog post says that you can think of the demo as basically the
game's prologue cut out in full and given to you.

More advanced players can look forward to three challenge
missions just for the demo These put you against multiple Aragami
creatures, but you'll thankfully get access to the game's more
    advanced NPC companion system.

The demo will have multiplayer support between other demo
players (although it won't be playable with the retail version.)

As previously detailed, you'll be able to import your demo save data
to the game's final build. This will allow you to carry over your
equipment and items into the final build. You can choose to restart
the game with all these goods in your possession, or you can just
continue from where you left off in the demo. You'll also be able to
redo your customized character following the import.

The demo will also let you sample the game's Avatar Card system.
You'll be able to save your play data to an Avatar Card, which can
also imported to the game's final build. The demo will be missing a
key feature from the system, though. You won't be able to
exchange the cards with other players. In the final version,
exchanging the cards gives other players your character to use as
    NPC allies during missions.

The demo is scheduled to hit early this month.

Apparently the JP demo was just released? Here's the link to it that I saw: http://www.godeater.jp/trial/download2.html

Namco Bandai put a massive God Eater Burst demo online. How
massive? The official God Eater blog says its basically the opening
    of the PSP game.

There are 29 missions to conquer plus story scenes to see in the
God Eater Burst demo. Three advanced missions pit players and a
computer controlled NPC against multiple Aragami. You can play the
demo with friends over an ad-hoc connection, but the demo is not
    compatible with the retail game.

Data from the demo can be transferred into God Eater Burst.
Players can either start the game over with the equipment you
found or pick up from the point where the demo ends.

Grab the God Eater Burst demo and other Namco Bandai demos for
PSP here. God Eater Burst comes out on October 27 in Japan and
    next year in North America.

Didn't finish the original but I really enjoyed it, looking forward to them localizing this so I can convince some more friends to play. Multiplayer is vastly better than solo, just like MH. New additions sound nice, aerial guard will help a fucking ton that's for sure.

Never played the other, but I do look forward to playing Burst. Got a few friends to play when this release as well, so it should be pretty fun.

Be careful of Vajra in the "Cowboy" mission. I figured I would try fighting him that early on and got my ass kicked.

So Namco filed a video game trademark for "GOD BOX" in Japan, sounds like we might finally be getting word of a new sequel since they've been quiet ever since Burst's release in Japan. Aside from the name being absolutely terrible I hope it is God Eater related. With some time to grow this could become a fucking awesome series. So much faster than MH but it still lacks some variety with so few weapon types, but Monster Hunter has had like 7 years to progress to where it's at now.

I hope they find a decent way to expand bullet creation too... with the nerfs bullets got in Burst it's impossible to make cool bullets that actually function well. So you either stick with extremely simple but effective ones or make awesome looking ones that do shitty damage in comparison... removing the 8 chip limit would be a great start so you could actually use more deco-stuff.

How is this game? I was pondering picking it up, but wasn't totally sure how it was.

If you like Monster Hunter I'm fairly certain you'd like it unless you hate the art direction the game takes (anime as fuck). It's got a little less variety in terms of weapon types (3 melee weapons, there's technically 3 different types of guns but they all essentially function the same way and 3 shields which again function largely the same way) but you can swap on the fly between blade and gun during missions which helps spice things up, as well as being able to make your own bullets where you can do all kinds of crazy shit if you put some time in to it. Definitely worth picking up if you have friends to play it with or a PS3 to play online with, if not give some videos a look or try the Japanese demo (didn't release an English one for some reason...) and decide yourself.
