Sounds like it's worth the purchase, they fixed alot of the worse parts about it.

Fast forward mode is awesome...every game need that. I like the change, but I wouldnt buy the game again for that. I usually play rpg once for the story, and that's all.

I would buy it. I didn't buy the original FFXII, I borrowed it. But if they released this version in the states(they probably won't) I would actually spend money on it.

That's pretty awesome. I wonder if they'll add new magic and skills? Only thing I'm interested in though is the extra content, some more hunts or something like that.
Every FF game needs to have as much content as FFX international or more.

- Shonen Jump magazine revealed that Square Enix's Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System for PS2 will have 2 additional playable characters, they are Larsa Ferrina Solidor and Vossler. Both characters will no longer be non-playable/guest characters, you can put them into your team, set their gambits, and use them as leader in battles. Larsa and Vossler will also have their own set of weapons.
For old info, found in that article, but better summarized:
Square Enix revealed new details on Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System for PS2:
* Zodiac Job System, which consists of 12 different license boards that allows you to customize the character to be like 12 different jobs, including Knight, Monk, Time Mage, Breaker, Archer, Black Mage, White Mage, Red Mage, Kikoushi (Gun Fighter), Uhlan (Spearman), Shikari (Theft Fighter with Daggers), and Momonofu (Samurai/Ninja).
* Each character can only choose one Zodiac license board at the beginning, you may not change the board during the game
* New "Double Speed Mode", which allows the game runs twice as fast than the normal speed, but display may become a little choppy due to frame skips
* New "Trial Mode", which allows you to battle bosses and enemies you've fought previously, much like survival battles. There will be certain surprise enemies toward the end
* Guest characters and Summon Espers can now be controlled during battles, you can choose what attack and skills to use
* Location of certain hard-to-find treasure boxes have been relocated to more convenient locations, raising the odds of obtaining rare items
* Easier to obtain loots from monsters, meaning easier to earn money in the game
* The game is designed to be replayed multiple times
* 16:9 wide screen support, the feature was missing in the Japanese original
* Voice dialogs will be in full English, with Japanese subtitles

the new job system sounds cool, yet scary at the same time :x
it will REALLY change the way battles like Doom Dragon/Yiazmat/Fafnir are fought.
edit: this won't be out till next year for US probably =P *hopes for beta leakage*

The job system does it for me. I wasn't impressed with how at level 30 I had almost every square revealed and enabled by the mid-30's. It left nothing to look forward to except for gear which was gay to get because of the treasure system.
But if that's released stateside I'll pick it up since I gave on the original and traded it in not long after I got it.

Yeh, after getting golden armlets or amulets whatever they were called and getting 999 AP and unlocking most of the board I traded mine too. It was really dumb how everyone used the same board, but now you have customized boards it seems.
For some of the license boards they mention there weren't original things they could include, from the old license board, which makes me think. They probably had to redo all the boards to fit the jobs and include new abilities/upgrades so that the boards wouldn't just be the orginal board but split into 12 parts. It'll be really interesting how they fill up these new boards :D

Job system sounds impressive... I'll probably give it a shot.
I really didn't like the original FF12, but I did finish its storyline at least... maybe this time it'll make the game more interesting.
Are they adding any additional scenes/chars/summons?

Doesn't really change a thing tho, considering you don't have any with you at the end of the game where you spend most of the time. Summon being playable look interesting tho..could make them useful

Yeah, but I know some people use the guest characters to help them do whatever non-story stuff they might have trouble with, like beating Gilgamesh or fighting that lightning summon early on. And I have a feeling Larsa will be playable a lot more than he was in the normal version. Although if Reddas and Vossler don't die it'll be disappointing.
And controlling summons sounds cool, they might actually be useful this time around. Especially if you can set their gambits.

Hopefully they don't bitch out and just combine the weapons board and ability board into one for every job -_-
There's alot of potential for new abilities and such, I'm kindof psyched to see where they go with it.

wonder if it'll be like FFX-2 with New Game+, you keep the license board abilities you learned from the previous game, but they won't be available till you buy the magic/ability again, and you MIGHT be able to keep items. also with the new game+ you can choose another license board again for the character

NA people don't think like JP... JP will buy any version of the game, even if SE released 5 of them.
NAs (again, majority..) only care for one version and wouldn't fork another 50 dollars for the same game with a few added fights and effects here and there..
For this reason exactly, SE prefers to keep the international version in JP (it's called international because its got english voice overs but jp test) and they still leave it open for NAs to purchase it if they decide to import by keeping the english voices in the game.
FFX international was in english and released in europe because SE fucked up and took ages to give them the game, so to make it up to the europeans they gave them the international version.. any other international/remake since then has been with english voices and jp text, and was only released in Japan.
Niiro

Why do they even bother calling it international anyway if the majority of them are only released in Japan.
And it's not fair :(
Charla

It should defnitely be more entertaining than the original... and probably harder cus you'll end up using all 6 characters instead of just using 3 for the entire game (i'm sure different boss fights/situations will call for different jobs, and since each char can only have 1 job throughout the course of an entire gameplay, having 6 different jobs would give you the edge over only using 3 of them..)

Wait, so you can use all 6 at the same time (just woke up lol). In the previous you could rotate all, hence, use all six... Anyways, I read some descriptions at BC and the whole text is in jap, which is meh ;x (unless I read it wrong since I just woke up o.O

I don't think the new system is really gonna force you to use the different characters/jobs, you can pretty much beat the game using a couple melees and a healer.

Buy swap magic 3.6 with a flip top(easier than the slide tool, even though it works just as well -- it just ruins your drive in the long run..)... easy to install, you simply have to switch a cd in before playing your import/burned backup, and it works like a charm.

I'd say it was more like...."since we took this long, we might as well translate the more recent version". Before FFX, as a rule, other than FF games, neither Square nor Enix even bother releasing anything here (no CT, CC, VP, etc, we didn't even get any Square game on the SNES other than Secret of Mana). Europe wasn't considered a RPG market, and in a way, still isn't. Also the mandatory translations to the local language that many countries, namely France, demand, doesn't make Europe an appealing market for text-heavy games.

My friend just imported a Japanese PS2, it cost him about $200 after shipping and handling, so now we're all just kinda waiting to see what games he'll import next. He's already picked up Super Robo Wars Alpha 2 and Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix + I'm not sure if he'll pick FFXII intl or not.
Most ppl reading are probably thinking "Fuck spending $200 bucks to import a JP PS2." But if anyone was curious, that's about what it cost. Each game shipped was about $70-$80 after shipping.

Buy swap magic 3.6 for 30 bucks w/ a slidetool/fliptop if its a fat ps2, magic keys 2 if it's slim, and then just download from BC...much much cheaper, and since they don't want you to buy it anyways (and are pretty clear about it since they're keeping it in JP), why pay for it?

Hm yeah you're right Trance Kuja did use it, but only once the battle is over (which KOs your entire party, then leads to the next cutscene right before the "hi guyz!" fight with Necron..)
As far as FFX goes I still have a hard time remembering it, but it's towards the end of Lulu's area on the sphere grid right? (with all the other high-end spells like Flare etc.) .. I'm pretty sure I remember an enemy in the path to Zanarkand/Zanarkand Ruins using Ultima on me (one of the flans?)

Yeah, it should be right at the end of Lulu's path. Lots of enemies cast it, Flans are one of the more common ones to cast it. Nemesis also casts it a lot too.

edit: Ultima in 12 got turned into an optional esper, which was both cool and lame at the same time. The reverse effect on holyja made it an interesting fight, but she's just as useless as the rest of the espers when you get her. The limit break is pretty at least.

I kind of just viewed the espers as a fun toy for beauty, where the best part of them was the fight to get them. Some were a joke, but some were fucking insane (due to my lvl at the time and just being hard). Accidently walking into an esper fight will always wake you up, especially when your running from a train of killer mobs in the first place.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, run run, like 40 mobs are chasing me.
Whew, a zone.

Yeah, Espers totally aren't worth it at all. In my file whoever is holding the tournesol just multihits a shitload of times for 9999 or close to it, ashe nukes anything that moves for 9999, and my tank-like guy just hits for about 7000 or so. Why would I switch all of that out so that Ultima can come in cast holyja at the end of her little rampage for 9999?

So let me get this straight. The JP version of this game has JP menu and commands with an English title screen and C/Ss?
Does the EU version have English menus/CS/commands?
Im wanting to play this game but do not understand Japanese at all... Am I SOL?

After i got "damage breaker" and started hitting for like 30,000 on a normal hit, i stopped casting magic.
Need ultima against that giant ooze mobs in arena that drop +4magic sphere thing. Well, dunno if there was faster strategy, but casting ultima 10 times was the best I found.

Yes, you are.
FFX-International only has an English option because supposedly the international version was also released in Europe because the original X wasn't released there, so they went ahead and just gave them the international version. (Kinda like how we in the US got the Director's Cut version of SO3, after all those freaking delays)
So, it's not happening. At least any time soon.

Yup Europe got the international FFX cos we got shafted and had to wait like forever for it to come out over here - so they figured they may as well throw in the other stuff (like dark aeons that pop up and eat you when you're innocently collecting stuff for the monster arena... I wondered why my boyfriend was smirking when I took that turning - git).
