Since the birth control topic has been so enjoyable, i want to know what ppl's opinions are on another related topic.
Ok Joe and Jane are boyfriend and girlfriend, they are sexually active in their relationship and do everything to prevent a pregnancy. They use birthcontrol, condoms and morning after pill. Somehow a sperm magically makes it to the egg and bam she gets pregnant.
Since ppl where saying that men should take responsibility on a pregnancy, wouldnt the guy then be able to say if he wants the girl to have the child or not? If the guy doesnt want it and the girl does, should that make him forfeit of all responsibliities? He wants to give it up for adoption and she wants to raise it, should that make him liable for child support? Since the major argument for abortion is that its the "woman's" body, would that then mean the guy should be considered nothing more than a sperm doner? On the flip side, if the man wants the child and the woman doesnt, does he have rights to make her have the child. Or better yet should she be able to give that said child up for adoption without the man's consent? To me it seems that the woman has all the control and can nail the guy for child support for 18 years becuase she wants the child and he doesnt. Being that we want equality between men and women in this nation, why is it acceptable that the man has almost no say whatsoever in what happens with the child?
Keep in mind when you start to flame, they both used every means possible to not get her pregnant. He wasnt just blindly shooting his man cream inside of her hoping for the best. This is not an abortion issue, more of how equal should the rights be. Either way you look at it, he had to contribute sperm to get her pregnant, so therefore, shouldnt he have half the say in what happens?
