Finally decided to join the Cool Kids Club and get a Smartphone

Don't really know too much about smartphones in general and need a hand in picking one out. I have T-Mobile atm and I'm going to be sticking with them. I'll probably be getting the 2gb data plan since I don't think I'll be using it all that often, though I'm not sure if the 5gb plan is worth it. I think I've narrowed my choices in phones down to 2 options:

    HTC One S
    http://www.htc.com/www/smartphones/htc-one-s

    or the Samsung Galaxy S3
    http://www.samsung.com/global/galaxys3/

Won't be making the switch for a week or 2, so I assume the S3 will be available everywhere by then. Are there any other phones out there I should be taking a look at? Are the ones I picked out worth it? Thanks for any and all advice.

One S from what I have read has a better phone for screen and overall performance(minimal). If you want a phone with added useless features and a better camera. SIII.

Id also go with the One S its a hell of a phone, too bad they didn't bring the One X to T-mo.

The Galaxy S3 has a cortex quad core processor, HTC One S has a dual core.

I'm going to buy my Galaxy S3 first thing tomorrow. I'm a sucker for the bigger screen though. Stuck with T-Mo, I kept saying my ideal phone would be somewhere in between the Galaxy Note and SII. And there she is.

Had the GS1 for two years now. She's held up pretty well. Can't really complain. So I'll stick with that. Probably would have gone with the One X if it had hit on T-Mobile before this though.

Most reviews I've read have the GS3 as being awesome but jam packed with shitty features. I don't give a fuck because I'm not going to ever use the voice shit or photo sharing shit anyway. I was in the market for size, speed, and camera quality.

It doesn't look good. This Galaxy S III apparently malfunctioned while in an in-car holster, causing some substantial melting and burn marks across the lower half of the device. The global HSPA+ iteration of Samsung's new flagship apparently sparked into white flames, followed by a bang.

Probably going to go with the One S. Seems like a solid phone, plus after I thought about it the Galaxy 3's screen was a bit too big for my taste. Also, I'd rather have a phone that doesn't randomly burst into flames.

Not in the US versions. Even though T-Mobile has no LTE, they still brought the LTE version over for them. So no Quad-core, not that you would notice any performance difference, and probably will actually see better battery life on the dual core.

Are smartphone antiviruses necessary? Been hearing about them but don't know if I should actually drop money on one like Bullguard.

Lookout mobile is free, and on some phones it's preinstalled. You really don't need an antivirus program unless you are really really careless.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

Just posting this in here that if you decide on the S3 try calling a bunch of walmarts in your area. Tmobile is selling the S3 for like 280$ (after rebate), which is the highest they've ever charged on the phone. We were gonna get it for hubby for father's day and were like "FUCK THAT". Then he found out that some walmarts were selling them for cheaper. Sure enough, he found a walmart that was selling them for $198. No rebate needed and they tax on the $198 instead of the $600 that Tmobile will tax you on.
