After users got a taste of Netflix on the iPad, the hype for an iPhone or iPod Touch version of their streaming service heightened. We've heard many rumors and even promises from the company saying that it was in the works and would be released as soon as possible. The users over at ModMyi seem to have jumped the gun and worked to get the full functionality delivered to the iPhone and iPod Touch. Developer 'Knisitruck', the main force behind the progress, noted that the hack was stamped out within a few hours of it's initial announcement in the forums.

It's not clear at this time which party, Apple or Netflix, is responsible for disabling the functionality. Knisitruck showed evidence that an iPhone version was bundled with the iPad app, which made the hack possible. He also noted that the battery dropped a terrifying 25% after 15 minutes of streaming. That likely indicates that battery consumption is the main barrier holding back an official release. For now, we're just going to have to hope Netflix is working hard on another version.
