    Error 300002

While trying to login, I am consistently receiving a 300002 game server error after selecting my character. The background music changes, in some instances I can hear other players around me moving around and crafting, but I never progress beyond the Now Loading screen. If I sit down and attempt to login multiple times over the course of a few hours, I seem to eventually get in, but if I ever logout, I'm right back where I started. I tried this from approximately 4-9:30 PM last evening, and only at around 9:30 did I successfully login and was able to play for a few hours. Now I'm right back where I started.

I've checked all the usual settings, ports are forwarded correctly, Windows Firewall isn't blocking FFXIV, etc. On the off chance I actually get into the game, it runs fine, without connection issues, and I never received this error during both the alpha and beta stages of the game on the same connection. Looking at the log files, it's apparent that my character is logged in, as I see "Welcome to Palamecia" and "Welcome to Eorzea". I'm at a bit of a loss at this point, as I haven't been able to find or devise a solution, and none of the threads I've found both here or on other community sites have identified one. If anyone has any advice or suggestions, I would be most appreciative.

I've been having a similar problem to this. I can actually get into the game, but its basically unplayable because I end up getting this every five to twenty minutes. Looks like it was happening to people a couple weeks ago in the open beta, and then disappeared. Was there ever a fix for this?

I am in the same situation. This also happened during OB. I was able to get in to the game past the black "Now Loading" screen twice, and both times I had excellent in game performance, so I don't believe my machine specs is the issue. I hoped that something magical would happen between OB and release, but no.
The "Now Loading" screen stays for between 3 minutes and forever, finally giving the "30002: An error has occurred on the game server". When I close the window via the Close or Alt+F4 my character is shown for a split second before the window closes. The log file shows that I am greeted "Welcome to Fabul" so I am getting in, it appears to hang when it should be loading the first Cut Scene.

    I welcome any suggestions.

For the record I have (with release version):
Uninstalled and reinstalled: First time as you would any program, second time with all firewalls/AV disabled.
Set the My Documents folder and the SquareEnix folder as exempt from AV.
Set the FFXIgame.exe to Admin, Various levels of compatibility.
Launched it in a window, launched it full screen, launched it with Windower .05.
There is nothing in Event Viewer related to it as far as I can tell.
Added FFXIV to be DEP exempt.
I have a Nvidia card. Updated new drivers. After it failed with default settings, I set all of the settings manually as opposed to game controlled.

I got a Square ticket and called. Waited on hold for over an hour before I got someone that had me do a dxdiag, confirm my drivers were up to date on my video card and then tell me it is server congestion. Server congestion is a problem, but not causing our issue. So frustrating.

Your issue sounds identical to mine, Krackers. I also submitted a support ticket to SE but have yet to hear back from them.

So, I think I've uncovered the source of this issue, though I haven't solved it (yet). It would seem as though the FFXIV login server, 202.67.50.8, is being routed by my ISP in a rather convoluted way, such that my connection is killed by the game server (in my case, Palamecia, 202.67.49.68) when my character, which it is under the impression is logged in, times out. This explains why I've been able to get in maybe 5% of the time, and when I'm stuck on the Now Loading screen, I can hear the BGM and sound effects of players moving around me.

Any suggestions? I encourage others having this issue to traceroute both their game server and the login server in addition to running netstat -a from the command prompt while attempting to login.

I don't get the error when I log in or create character, it happens while I'm playing. Like, I'll be playing for 10 minutes and get the error which will boot me, and I'll have to close the game completely to get back in. Extremely frustrating. On other forums people have called customer service and get a canned "server congestion" runaround. I really, really hope they fix this soon. It's sapping my motivation to play a game I otherwise enjoy very much.

For what it's worth, it actually seems to be happening MORE in retail than the open beta for me.

That's basically what's happening for me. I physically took my computer into my work and tried it from there and didn't encounter any 30002's, though I was only able to test it for about fifteen minutes. From home, it'll give me that error anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes. The fact that it works elsewhere seems to indicate its either my cable modem, the ISP, or something on SE's end. I've more or less given up on trying to fix this for now. I'm just hoping that when the Standard Edition gets released on the 30th we'll have a larger pool of people to draw information from.

I couldn't agree more. I didn't experience this issue at all during alpha/beta, and it's incredibly frustrating. For what it's worth, I tried connecting with my iPhone 4 tethered to my computer, and had no such issues. I'm beginning to think it's got something to do with the routes some ISPs take to SE's servers.

Using a Proxy or a Virtual Private Network could fix it but uh... would be better if it worked directly :/

The workaround that seems to be working for me is power cycle modem and router and reboot my computer immediately before playing. So far today this has been getting me around 2-3 hours playtime before the 30002 error. Still completely annoying and stupid, but at least I can get some leves done while I wait for a patch.

This is definitely something on S-E's end in the netcode that needs to be fixed. Anything the user can do is a workaround and not a fix. As mentioned a few posts ago hopefully the 30th launch will get a bigger group of complaints and motivate them to fix this.

Bit of an update. With the help of a more knowledgeable friend, I've set up a VPN and connected to FF14 through that. It seems to have solved my problems, and I've managed to stay connected for a lot longer with no 30002 problems than I could before, so routing issues with ISPs could be a problem. I'm going to get after my ISP about this tomorrow, because the current arrangement for me isn't a viable longterm solution, but if that fails I may have to look into setting up a VPN for this longterm.

Alternatively, if you have the option, switching ISPs could solve your problems. Because of where I live, I unfortunately can't.

Luger, how have you setup your VPN server? I'm considering setting one up, would love to know what server/client you're using and any experiences/advice you can provide.

The way I have it arranged right now I'm using Cisco VPN through a university's network, which is why its not viable long term. If I can't get Shaw to sort out their problems before next weekend, I'll probably use http://www.publicvpn.com for the server and have to look into what's out there for free clients. Not thrilled about the idea of having to pay a monthly fee on top of FF14's fee just to play, so hopefully I can get the ISP to do something first.

Edit: Actually, poking around that site, you might not even need a client if you're running Windows 7, at least.

I am having this issue as well... I can only assume that my continual R0ing during gameplay are also symptoms of how my isp is connecting to the game server. I R0 in game about every 30-45 seconds and then burst back to life or I r0 and get the 30002 error and am unable to log back in for 10minutes. My friend and I are getting really tired of me dropping out during a guildleve for 10minutes at a time. Its bad enough they changed it so you can't link a leve that you dc on (why they changed this from beta I still have no idea), but the character hang issues these 30002's create as a sideeffect are annoying as hell.

How exactly do you set up the VPN and is there any possible way to do it for free? Paying more money for this game in its current state is not something I want to do. I do want to give the game a chance, but its hard when I lag out or get randomly disconnected over and over.

Has anyone noticed an improvement on this issue in the past 2 days? I hope I'm not jinxing myself but I haven't gotten a single 30002 since late Sunday. Want to make sure it's not a fluke. I left my character on last night before bed; seeing if she will still be on when I get home from work.

Ugh, it's back with a vengeance. I was getting the 30002 error every 5~10 minutes and crazy lag when I was on for the past 3 hours. I had to log out early because it was impossible to finish leves. Hopefully the maint tonight does something. How is everyone else faring?

I had this after retail started, and I never had it during the alpha and beta phases.

The way I fixed it was hardcycling my router and modem for a good 5-10 minutes, and then rebooting my laptop (probably isn't necessary). I believe the error is just a disconnection/timeout, I tended to get it the moment I logged in, or a few minutes after playing. I always noticed that I R0ed whenever I got it.

Anyways, moral of the story is that it's probably something to do with your network. Make sure that you are on a less population channel and that all your firewall/ports are forwarded correctly and it should fix your issue. It did fix mine so I'm not pulling this out of my ass.

Edit: Meh, I guess you guys already mentioned cycling modem and router, but as of this moment I haven't received the error since, I also noticed that some websites weren't loading correctly and I was getting 404ed, like on facebook, twitter, kotaku etc... But all that stuff went away once I hardcycled everything.

It's not our networks or anything user-related, trust me-- it's 100% S-E. My connection is flawless outside of FFXIV. Games, streaming, everything works fine. FFXIV won't even work properly when I eliminate the router from the equation. I realize it's easy to dismiss this as "lol user error" when you think you've "fixed" it, but trust me, it's not user-related.

And I was without the error for about 3 days straight, then it came back. So even if you think you've fixed it, you may not have.
