Driving/Weekend trip down to Chicago. Tips? Tricks?

So I've got a 4 day weekend next weekend. Decided to use it wisely and drive down to a place I've never been in my 27 years on this planet, Chicago!

Just looking for anything fun to do. Driving down with a friend, we're both pretty outdoorsy, not looking to spend too much money on fancy restaurants/bars, but any suggestions will be helpful. The trip was pretty impromptu so we haven't really planned much.

Last time I was in Chicago I went to a movie theatre that served meals while you watched. I forget what the name was, but it was cool. Food wasn't amazing, but was good.
