    PC Cleaning - Air Pressure

    Howdy,

Im looking to get something like an air compressor for cleaning out my PC sick of going through Pressure Cans like candy. After having a look seems air compressors are quite costly €100+ so was thinking of using something like a tyre inflation unit.

    http://www.woodiesdiy.com/Product/Br...r/17158/4.15.4

Seen this in a local HW store and was gonna pick it up but wanted to research first. Seems alot of people use air compressors and save a fortune on the air cans. Most seem to stick to 80-100 PSI. One concern is how i would get the air out of it as it wouldnt be connecting to a tyre. Any thoughts?

    Highly recommend this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Metro-Vacuum-E...rds=air+vacuum

It was actually only like $40 when I picked it up, but yeah, it's amazing and still worth the higher price. Similar to you I was sick of going through canned air, plus they're just a pain to deal with (losing pressure too quickly from continuous use, have to be used at a specific angle, etc) and overpriced for how long they last. I clean out my PC pretty often and had extra cash-back points at the time, so I found it pretty easy to justify spending a bit of money on this.

I was worried about the pressure, but this thing actually pushes even more air than the compressed cans. It's pretty ridiculous; it literally blasts dust and shit across the room (use it outside lol). It's loud, but good; especially in combination with the tools it comes with.

It's so good I constantly have 3-4 friends/co-workers/family that are lined up to borrow it for cleaning out everything from PCs/keyboards/laptops, to air conditioners/vents/fans, to cars, to sidewalks, etc... So yeah, it comes in handy for a lot of different things and works very well.

EDIT: The amazon reviews do it justice pretty well, and the first review has a video of it in action.

Cheers for the reply. I came across that as a reccomendation and was eager to buy until i saw the price on the Amazon UK website...

£88.00 which puts me above the €100 again. Give its $45 on Amazon.com one would expect it to be at least only £40-£50. Im going to pick up this Tire inflator this evening and see how it goes. Hope the lead for the car charing part is good enough!

This looks fantastic, thanks for the link. I have cats plus have to travel with my tower often and have been burning through cans like crazy trying to keep the fur and dust out.

You might also look for something like this. Cheaper and can be used to clean up the dust also.

Never use high pressure air for extended periods of time on moving/loose parts. Shoot in bursts, or hold the moving part while you blow the dust out. Otherwise, things can easily break (like holding a high pressure hose to a fan for 20 seconds might break the fan)

I have a small 2 gallon air compressor for PC cleaning. While it gets the job done, it's pretty loud. If you do go with an air compressor, I'd highly suggest an air air blow gun with a long tip or something.

For comparison, this is what I have:
