Game doesn't activate after pressing the play botton

It's the part where you press play, the window blinks, and then after a few seconds the game starts. Except in my case, the game doesn't start. The play button window goes away, but the game doesn't begin. I tried unpatching the mouse patch, and also reupdating the files in the patch folder, but nothing seems to be working.

It seems i fixed the problem, but i'm not sure how. I did a couple of things:

since the unpatch thing did not work, i copy/pasted the first ffxigame.exe i unpatched today. When i put that in the game folder, the game could continue, however, whenever i try to activate the mouse patch, the game thing happens. So it seems it was the mouse patch, but now i have no way of using hardware mouse :/

I tried the original mouse patcher, and it allowed me to play with the mouse patched this time. Any idea, why this is?
