3D gaming with Nvidia 3D Vision

Just wondered if any of you have tried this? From the reviews I have read it seems that seeing is believing and you have to experience it for yourself. Is it really that good?

I'm not too well up on this sort of thing but it seems you need a 120Hz refresh monitor and an Nvidia card capable of displaying the games in 3D. Now I don't mind trying this out at a little cost.... but here's the question....

I currently have standing idle here in my room an Iiyama HM204DT A Vision Master Pro 514 22" CRT monitor. Cost me a fortune back in the day but now it collects dust as it's "old technology" and isn't widescreen. But this thing has a vertical H-Sync rate of 142Hz. Can this be used for the Nvidia 3D vision? I was kinda keeping this beast for a possible Mame cabinet in the future. But I might try it out on 3D if it's capable.

also, do you reckon FFXIV will be Nvidia 3D compatible? Some say it's a gimmick and the bad side is you gotta wear those silly bins while you play. But if the results are worth it I would be prepared to give it a go.

Reviews are generally favorable but it strongly depends on how it is implemented in the game. So a game by game basis. I actually made a thread about this in the gaming section a long time ago and it had a few game by game scores and explanations of how effective the 3D looked: http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/867...=1#post3384267

You need a monitor that can receive and output a 120hz signal, compatible GPU and the glasses (which can be pricey.)

Likely, they've talked about it in the past.
