[Titan] Abunai Linkshell

Greetings to the BG Community:

Abunai, an end-game event LS on Titan, is seeking fresh talent across all servers.

Why we are recruiting:

Like many other linkshells, our shell has recently experienced some player attrition. While we've enjoyed a very stable membership base for years, several of our most dedicated members have gone to real-life heaven, or to other games. As a result, we are looking to bolster our ranks with skilled, yet personable players.

What we are:

We are a point-based, endgame event shell. We do NOT camp HNMs. If scheduled endgame events appeal to you, then we invite you to consider us. Events such as Einherjar, Dynamis, Sea, Sky, Limbus, ZNM, Bahamut, SCNMs, etc. are done regularly (see schedule below). We currently team with another shell for Einherjar. Salvage is done with LS members who form their own statics. For more information, visit our homepage at: abunai-ls.org.

Who we are:

Our membership includes both long-time HNM "retirees", as well as newer endgame players. Most of our members are working class, with a few college students. Officership is stable and fair, and several of us have played together since the first year of the game. We can be fun when we want to be, yet serious when we need to be.

What makes us different:

We strive to provide as many opportunities as possible for members to obtain great game benefits, in a non-mandatory attendance environment. In fact, the majority of our members have managed to gear all of their jobs. Even so, the pervasive attitude in shell is to spread the wealth, so you'd be hard-pressed to find any lootwhoring by our high-point veterans. We operate under the formula that players with excellent attitudes and dedication equals fun and gear for all.

What we need:

We are seeking dedicated members with reasonable playtimes. "Dedicated" means that if you are online, you are willing to help with scheduled events, even if you need nothing from them. "Reasonable" means that you can make at least half of our events.

However, we also recognize the importance of real life. If you had to choose between attending your daughter's soccer match, or going tailgating with your friends, vs. attending a FFXI event, we'd be disappointed if you chose the latter. On the other hand, please be honest with yourself and with us; don't apply if you plan to make only one event per week.

We believe that merits and specific gear builds not only help you, but help the LS overall. We are willing to train those who are open to it, as well as help with Dynamis and Bv2 access.

Our schedule:

Sunday: Dynamis (3p ET), Type A event (7p ET)
Monday: Type B event (7p ET)
Tuesday: Einherjar (830p ET), Limbus (930p ET; alternates to Wed every other week)
Wednesday: Dynamis or Limbus (7p ET; alternates to Tue every other week)
Thursday: Type B event (7p ET)
Friday: Einherjar (930p ET)
Saturday: Type A/B event (6p ET), Limbus (9-10p ET)

Type A Events: Greater NMs (JoL, Kirin/Directional Gods, Bahamut v2, etc.)
Type B Events: Farming/Lesser NMs (ZNM, T1/2 Jailers, Sky Demis, Pop NMs, SCNMs, etc.).

*We occasionally substitute free days or Pacific-time runs in place of Type B Eastern-time events.

Application Requirements:

- Sky and Sea access are required. You must have completed ZM 13: "The Gate of the Gods", as well as PM 8-3: "When Angels Fall" or your application will be rejected.
- At least one job at 75. Job flexibility is key at endgame, so the more diverse you are, the better your experience will be.
- All jobs must be adequately geared and merited, with appropriate subjobs. This is because certain events require specific tactics made possible by specific subjobs and merits. Not having these can render your main job useless.

Examples of appropriate subjobs: WHM (/SCH, /BLM, /SMN); RDM (/DRK, /WHM, /BLM); PLD (/NIN, /WAR, /RDM); SAM (/THF, /WAR); BRD (/BLM, /WHM, /NIN); RNG (/WAR, /SAM, /NIN), etc.

Examples of basic merits (capped is better): THF (Feint); WHM (Barspell/Devotion/Shellra V); PLD (Chivalry, Shield, Sentinel); RDM (Enfeebling, Ice/Wind Accuracy, Slow 2); BLM (Elemental, Freeze/Burst 2, Potency); BRD (Troubadour/Nightingale, Minuet).

Examples of decent gear: 6-hit build on SAM, Barspell set on WHM, 320 Elemental set on BLM, etc. You don't need the best gear, you just need to have decent gear. Improving your gear is a goal we share together, and we offer ample opportunities for this.

How to apply:

PM your application to Kamanao here or on our forums: abunai-ls.org/forums. Please note that applications on our forums require registration. All cross-server applications are subject to a reference check. If you are applying from Titan, you may also talk in-game to the following officers if you have any questions: Matsuo, Daeka and Dyanne.

In your application, please include the following:

- Timezone and playtimes
- Specific Dynamis clearances
- Whether or not you have Bahamut v2 clearance
- End game experience
- Specific merit amounts for the job(s) you are applying
- Examples of the gear you own
- Examples of the gear you would like to obtain
- If from Titan, any names or references of people who can vouch for your character
- If from another server, name(s) of your most recent endgame LS
- Some personal information about yourself that you think we'd find interesting

Just an add on. It's also worth mentioning that while Abunai doesn't do HNM of any kind really, our Einherjar is one of only two NA groups killing Odin with any kind of regularity. ^^

Would not recommend this linkshell. I approached Kamanao several months back when I was hearing good things about abunai. However I found Kamanao to be sarcastic and rude from the interaction I had with him regarding the shell and would therefore not recommend it as he is the leader.

Your claim that you didn't want an LS with a "kid" for an LS leader (when I am much older than you) is a testament to how misguided you are. Sorry, not even God could've gotten you in, and I do hope you found what you were looking for.

Abunai is a good linkshell. They managed to do really well when I used to be in there. So they're probably a lot more awesome now that I'm not weighing em down.

Though I do not play FFXI right now, my time spent in Abunai was well enjoyed. They are an incredibly productive group of highly skilled players and if they want to get a job done, they will without a doubt in my mind.

I am sorry that you weren't worthy of a trial, but Abunai doesn't accept just anyone. Your continued posting only helps bump this thread, and validates my original perception of the type of person you are.

Added to this you are of course distorting a simple series of questions I had about your shell into a fictitious suggestion that I attempted to apply to it. I thought my criticism was clear - your sarcasm, rudeness and attitude (which are perfectly on display here) dissuaded me from doing so.

I suspect the reason guiding this manipulation of yours is to make you feel and/or appear better in stating it was you that turned someone down rather than your attitude turning them away. Well I agree it does say something about character however it is not mine.

About 2.5 months ago I left for Navy boot camp, back then I had access to contact with most of the old members from Abunai. However it seems now that the site is down and finding anyone is proving to be very difficult. So, i'll keep an eye here if anyone posts. If anyone knows something I'm missing, maybe the ls reformed under a new name, idk. Either way I'll be watching. Miss all of you, take care!
