Thread: Sept. 5th Apple Announcement    

Probably gonna be something lame, lots of rumors going around though. From a new 6th gen Ipod, with a touchscreen like the Iphone, to new Nano's, and even updates to the macs and Itunes.

I'm In the market for a new MP3 player, it'll probably be 6months after the announcement that anything they reveal would hit the market, but all the retailers have been clearing their shelves. I called Bestbuy and they aren't getting any real shipments of nano's and are getting rid of what they have to make room for new products.

Anyone think that the Ipods on the market now will recieve a price drop? How long do you think after an announcement do you think it'll take for the new stuff to hit shelves? I bought a Zen mp3 player recently and I took it back the next day, ended up getting the 30gig ipod, but I don't think it's durable enough for me to take snowboarding, not to mention i'll never fill it up. So the Nano's are appealing to me, more durable, good battery life, but they are overpriced. You can get a 1000 song nano for $200, and a 2000 song nano for $250... meanwhile the big 7500 video is $250. I'm willing to get the 2000 model even though its a wallet rape in terms of HD size, but with this announcement I'm wondering if it's worth waiting instead.

Most people don't follow Apple news like this, I know I sure as hell don't. But when i'm in the market for one of their products I guess it can make a difference. Wait and maybe save money, wait and maybe get a better product, or just order the overpriced thing now and get it over with. They will be announcing a "New product" But as they've done before, it could be pluralized. I think last time they did this sorta thing we got new Imacs, Iwork and ILife updates. Guess we'll see, anyone have any actual thoughts on it?

It's going to be a smooth, white, round-edged device that fits in the palm of your hand. It will do pretty much the same things that its predecessor did, but with slight modifications and a huge price tag. In half of the units, the batteries will die in 6 months and you will have to pay an exorbitant fee to get it replaced. Many annoying hipsters will run out and buy them to show everyone how cutting-edge and trendy they are.

What a strange future, totally unlike the past.

There was a rumor of an Ipod that would be designed like the Iphone but no internet/phone. I'd probably break it in a day. The only thing I like about the nano now is it's got solid battery life and it's wrapped in aluminum, so it can take a bit of a beating.

The only reason I was thinking of waiting is because every single store i go to is not getting new shipments of nanos/ipods, they are clearing their shelves for the new ones. Which means they wont be out in 6months, but instead much sooner, like next month.

I returned the 30gig and bought a Wii anyway, lol, so i'll just wait another week or 2. The new samsungs that are out look pretty cool but they are flimsy, it seems the only ones that are durable at all are creative and I returned that model the day I bought it... froze 3 times and was just gay to use.
