IGE yanks RMT auctions from website.

    http://www.brokentoys.org/2007/01/25/eb ... -auctions/

Website attained from Slashdot, which 'confirmed' this finding. Posted in the General Discussion board since IGE doesn't do business in FFXI through eBay (much).

I'd argue it's an interesting step in the opposite direction from the Station Exchange, but there's simply too much for them to keep up on top of and people will find creative ways around it.

"I spoke today with a media representative for the company, who confirmed that eBay is now delisting all auctions for 'virtual artifacts' from the site. This includes currency, items, and accounts/characters; not even the 'neopoints' used in the popular Neopets service is exempt from this decision."

From /., evidently they decided to widen the scope. btw, you misspelled "Nynja"

Hey I know how to use quotes effectively!
    ^^^ example

Ontopic: I know most MMOs (that disallow RMT) have been on top of eBay accounts, but sometimes eBay just needs an extra nudge to keep those listings off their site. Just hard to keep up after all this time.

Those arguments don't hold up. If eBay can determine that you are intending to transfer an account, regardless of the wording, they will remove the auction. Or at least that is what I've seen them do for other prohibited items.

The question is whether or not they'll actually follow through on their promises.

I've seen a lot of cases where your bidding on X small item and the account is a bonus. If people report the listing to E-Bay they generally get removed.

Too bad the ToS says any transfer of character is a violation whether for monetary value or for free.

I sold a couple auctions for gil 3 years ago (back when 10-15k was BIG ... nov-dec 03 I think). One of em went fast and got through, but the other 2 of them were taken down, and I recieved emails stating that if I tried to sell online items again that my ebay account would be shut down.

I also sold some stuff on diablo 2, but had no problems with that.

I love those disclaimers because they are like "if I invent a loophole then of course its legal." Its still illegal, and you still have no rights to the account or the "time" you spent in that account.

You can charge people for the time you invested in your account all you want, actually. Just you can't transfer the account to them.

It's just like selling tickets to stuff you're not supposed to sell.
Hi I'm selling this envelope. It happens to have 2 tickets to such and such inside.
