I remember how nuts I used to go with this when they gave out sample game pieces in the paper, thinking since I had the common million dollar piece I could find the other easy due to my "luck" or find a friend with the other and split it 50/50.

Sucks not a lot of food chains other than McDonalds/Burger King do this, since I can't stand eating any of their food.

The associates "won" almost all of the top prizes between 1995 and 2000, including McDonald's giveaways that did not have the Monopoly theme. The associates "netted" over $24 million.

when the game was originally introduced, the rare piece for each color set changed yearly, not sure if it still does. Example, the first game had Boardwalk as the rare Blue piece. the following year had Park Place as the rare item.

and yes, McD makes a fuck load of money from this. like others said, the free food gets returning customers, which means more sales. also, the vast number of people that either a.) dont even bother to peel off the game pieces, b.) only care to look for the instant winners and toss the rest of the property pieces (even the rare ones) and c.) if they do win free food, they either put it in their pocket and forget about it or lose the game piece, all greatly reduces any chance of having loses

Also the "free" items are mostly drinks and fries, which cost them about 4 cents to make.

I had a paper route when I was younger and pretty much took all of those game boards out of the paper for myself. Such a badass.

My boyfriend works there and has a 1,000,000 park place. He also says McRib comes out next Tuesday at his store, the 26th, dunno if it's nation wide though. I got to try the McRib yesterday, er 2 days ago since this post is past midnight. I feel so bad eating pigs, they are smart like dogs!
