    ATI Radeon HD 4800 Issue

Yes I know the card's a bit older but I have the ATI Radeon HD 4800 card on Vista 64 bit. I recently ran some update that Windows Update picked up for the card, but the update failed (error code 80070103). Now my graphics are slightly less clear than they were (not game breaking but enough to annoy me), but the Catalyst Control Center is completely gone. I've tried to reinitialize, and to run downloads off the AMD site to reinstall but those all error out too.

It gives me some error saying "install package failure" once it gets most of the way through.

Have you tried uninstalling/and using driver sweeper before reinstalling? Or uninstalling/installing in safe mode?

If its an old card, double check w/ the ATI website and see if ites part of their "legacy" products. Sometimes every now and then when you update windows and are using older hardware, windows will no longer recognize the drivers and default to windows/generic drivers. You CANNOT simply go to your drivers and press the "update" driver and it will work for you! It just doesn't work that way w/ the legacy drivers. ATI will have on their website the drivers and install instructions and takes about under 10min. Once it installs the updated catalyst and drivers, you should be back to your old performance and everything will be normal. This is the only thing I can think of as I've had several PC's come my way and this was the issue.
