    TheSpeedGamers' Castlevania Marathon

    Hey guys, me again. If you don't know me...well I'm the web developer over at TheSpeedGamers.com. Nice new forum design you guys got here btw.

    Anyway we have another marathon coming up at the end of this week (Oct 29th at 6PM Central), it's a 48 hour Castlevania marathon all to raise money for charity.

    Since it's during Halloween, the commentators will be dressed up. We'll also be giving out some awesome prizes!

    Now for a bit about ourselves for those that don't know:
    TheSpeedGamers have been streaming video game marathons for over two years to raise money for various charities. In total we have raised over $235,000 dollars and played 19 marathons. We raised over $57,000 in our week long Mario Marathon alone, which was in June 2010. We have also made multiple news appearances.

    ------------
    Here are the planned games to be played (not necessarily in this order):
    * Symphony of the Night
    * Super Castlevania
    * Simon's Quest
    * Rebirth
    * Lament of Innocence
    * Harmony of Dissonance
    * Castlevania 64
    * Lords of Shadow
    * Portrait of Ruin
    * Aria of Sorrow
    * Harmony of Despair

    So if you guys are interested stop by this Friday over at http://thespeedgamers.com

    Also, if you have any questions pre/during/post marathon feel free to post them here and I'll try to answer them.

    Look forward to seeing you guys there, and always...thanks for the support guys!

    Is this an one day thing? I'm sure you can cheese your way through those games in less than 2 hours each if pushed hard enough =p

    Do SOTN last!!!!

    Quick Ninja Edit: Oh it's 2 days, missed it

    It's possible to beat most of them in minutes, but they don't really speed run games. A more appropriate name for them would have been The Marathon Gamers. Either way, I'm down for Castlevania.

    We do try to speed run the games, but you need to remember that most speed runners practice for months if not years to get good at a single game. We do a new series of games every month or so. It's inevitable that we aren't going to be great speed runners, nor even have the time to practice outside of jobs and school. We try our best though. When TSG started out we excelled because we did the game series that we knew. Now that we are expanding out to other series that we don't know very well, everything is up in the air. Honestly the uncertainty makes it more fun.

    Also we have a set amount of time (48 hours this time), and we make it a priority to try and fill up that time. We try not to repeat the games as much as possible, but we all know the games are short and I'm sure some will be repeated either to fill time or while waiting on another player.

    As Richter only, unless there's some super-sick hack to skip the necessary powerups to reach the 'good ending' as Alucard, you couldn't even walk through a monsterless castle to Shaft's chamber as Alucard in 10 minutes.

    You can still do Alucard in 20~25 minutes using the wolf glitch and glitching through the walls in the clock room.

    We are talking about a run you can do in one sitting on a live stream, right? :D Tricks that take the TAS runners 3000 save/restore sessions aren't very realistic in this context.

    Will there be ghost peppers involved where the moron, *ahem*, privileged individual actually chews the pepper instead of swallowing it whole?

    The gummi bear challenge was great, but it needs to not be refrigerated this time!

    You're asking for it to be frozen?! XD

    Anyways, SOTN is the one I'm most DIE MONSTER interested in. Reasonably I would give 6 hours for a complete fresh none-glitch run through.

    EDIT: Most interested because i played that game to death and have always enjoyed it

    I've had this name way before I even joined TSG (around 7 years before actually) and I'd rather not change it because I have it all memorized. I know it can be seen as inappropriate to some charities, but I've never seen anyone complain about "Village Idiot"...same thing really.
