Cablevision Allegedly Promoting Piracy of Fox Content

Fox sent a cease and desist letter to Cablevision, saying its employees were directing subscribers to watch Fox content on illegal websites.

"Copyright law exists to protect the very creative freedoms that fuel our industry," Fox said in a statement. "As both a creator and owner of intellectual property — not to mention major sports franchises — Cablevision knows better and should immediately call an end to this unlawful activity."
I thought this was hilarious even if I wasn't able to find any proof that they actually did direct people to dl Fox shows.

Lol this whole Cablevision vs. Fox shit is getting so out of control. I would almost be willing to be that those letters do actually exist. There's no doubt Cablevision has been hypocritical, but christ Fox is being a bitch about accepting arbitration. Waaah cablevision is trying to change the laws waaah. Oh btw all you need to do is buy a TV antenna to watch fox and the garbage on my9.

GOD FORBID CABLEVISION ENCOURAGES PIRACY OF THINGS THAT ARE BROADCASTED 100% FOR FREE EVERYWHERE IN THE COUNTRY!

I just wish it wasn't such a pain in the ass to switch from antenna to cable on most new HDTVs - do they have to scan for channels every goddamn time? How about just once and then remember them unless I tell it to do it again.

Cablevision also offered Fox today the same amount of money that TimeWarner pays them for the programming. Fox declined.

Also, Murdoc, who owns Newscorp, also owns Direct TV. I smell conspiracy.

    Piracy? BS.

I got another email from cablevision today telling me I could pay $9.95 to subscribe to some place where I could watch fox and my9, and if I did, they would credit my account $10. That is all I've heard from cablevision and I'm sure I'm not the only one who got said email from them.

Yep. I found this today. Honestly surprised they're doing something like that but good for them. It will probably cost them a lot less than the increase Fox wants. Fox does this kind of shit every year so I hope Cablevision doesn't cave this time.
