It's hard to believe that what we're looking at is real -- but we assure you, the picture above is in fact the PlayStation Phone you've long been waiting for. As we reported back in August, the device you see is headed into the market soon, likely boasting Android 3.0 (aka Gingerbread), along with a custom Sony Marketplace which will allow you to purchase and download games designed for the new platform. The device snapped up top (and in our gallery below) is sporting a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 (a chip similar to the one found in the G2, but 200MHz faster), 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and the screen is in the range of 3.7 to 4.1 inches. Looking almost identical to the mockup we hit you with this summer, the handset does indeed have a long touchpad in the center which is apparently multitouch, and you can see in the photos that it's still bearing those familiar PlayStation shoulder buttons. For Sony buffs, you'll be interested to know that there's no Memory Stick slot here, but there is support for microSD cards.
The particular model in these shots is still in prototyping mode. As such, the unit doesn't have a custom skin (not even SE's Timescape design seen on the Xperia devices), and is said to be rather buggy. We're digging into more facts as we speak, but it's likely that much of what we reported earlier is still accurate, and though the device could still be headed for a 2010 release, 2011 is looking much more realistic. Still, there's a lot of time between now and the holidays... so keep your fingers crossed!
Usually I'm not a fan of these gimmicky things because they're either too bulky or too slow but looking at the pictures and specs, I may actually be a fan of this. If it's ATT i'll prolly pick one up outta contract and just swap sims from my iPhone to that when I want to play games at work lol
Fell to my Sony Ericsson Z1 (menu Settings - About Phone, listed as Zeus).
Its shape resembles the Vivaz, well rounded corners and four buttons hard keys at the bottom of the screen 4 inches. The device I saw was wearing a version Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
Very good sense of the touch screen, very good multi-touch and a general and uniform sykgrotimeno result, despite being a prototype. I saw a demo of Qualcomm with animated graphics that play excellent mobile phone!
It seemed to shoot some tanks while we were returning the camera around them by close-ups to make. Sony is preparing its own Application Store with Games for Sony Ericsson Z1 and any other mobile PSP follow after that.
As for the sliders to play the games. The surface of the joypad is exactly what we've seen in the photo has leaked. In the middle of the joypad, there are two points markostena with rounded corners and a silver bullet into each one and as I explained to the Indian, these are the joystick!
Yes, you read that the virtual joystick doulefeoun by touch. Also as they hold the kimito open with your fingers on the joypad, as if you hold a cheiristirio the PlayStation, behind the screen there are normally two keys left - right extra settings in the joypad.
The camera is 8 Megapixels and has a small round LED flash like the XPERIA X10. Kratato my hands on the Z1 PSP phone in a few weeks ago the photos appeared on the internet without being credible by many. But... it does exist!
I went to live wallpapers, and what this meeting was called two new PSP wallpaper that you can adjust the color and if I every once in the week to automatically change it.
Just the other day in my ee class we were talking how Sony needed to introduce something 'new' instead of just a gaming system since that doesn't fly anymore. Sony owns Ericson we mentioned it'd be cool if they added some phone functionality to the psp.
Do not know if want. Not really a fan of touch screen, love my phone's QWERTY keyboard. The phone would be great for killing time at work though. I'll see what games it has when it is released, if Verizon gets it that is.
If i can play games close to as good as psp games I might not mind getting it. A real gaming phone would be sweet. Iv always wished I could get online play whenever I want for games like monster hunter. Most of my friends give up on games a few weeks later.
Online play via 3g/4g(would be better) would be so great. Add-hoc is not that great too...
