    Family friendly Vegas suggestions

My family and I are wanting to visit Vegas for a getaway, and to celebrate my wife's birthday. It's going to be in early December, for three days. We would have no problem finding things to do, if it were just adults going.

So my question is, what can people below the age of 21 do in Vegas?

    We have 8 people going.
Two people below the age of 18.
Two people between the ages of 18 and 21.
    Four people above 21.

Any advice on shows or any activity will help me in my search of Vegas. I know there are a lot of things to do in Vegas, but what would be the best things to do for those age groups?

Circus circus, old Las Vegas, checking out random casinos, checking out that aquarium, and walking the strip is about the only thing you can do.

Excalibur has a pretty decent arcade like thing in the basement, with video games and older style carnival games like Skeeball. There's a Gameworks right on the strip next to the MGM Grand, as well. Many shows are family friendly, as well.

If you're staying at a major hotel, you might also check with the front desk; they might have a list of family friendly activities, as that's probably a question they get all the time.

Hopes were let down upon reading this post, I thought you were going to pay for all BG to fly out to Vegas.

Assuming at least a few of them are girls, you could send them shopping. Then send the others of to watch some random shows, then (assuming the four people above 21 are 2 men and 2 women), take the last guy and go gamble/drink while the women keep an eye out for the youngn's.

    Perfect weekend.

Under-21/non-drunk Vegas is probably one of the worst experiences ever.

This. Go to the beach instead.

Also the slot machines in the Vegas airport terminals amuse the hell out of me.

The Grand Canyon isn't far away, so that's an idea. You can go by coach or by helicopter if everyone has some money to shell out (which is well worth it, by the way).

There's loads of shows all over the place, so evenings wouldn't be a problem.
Looking around all the casinos on the strip will take a large amount of time. Under 21's can look around, but not allowed to actually stop and even watch any of the gambling.

When it comes to Vegas, it depends on how much money to have to burn.

There's a decent writeup here, which you might have already seen: http://www.vegas.com/traveltips/guide/crowd.html

Someone above mentioned the Grand Canyon, which is a good idea. Hoover Dam's also only about 30 minutes away, and can be an interesting experience, if you're into that kind of thing.

Switch your destination to Montreal, then everyone can have fun Drinking age is only 18, with underagers not having an issue getting in places, unless they look 12

I literally just watched Vegas Vacation last night. Moral of the story: Fake ID's for the minors, put a dollar in and win a car, etc.

If I can have fun in Vegas with my church youth group, you can have fun with people under 18. There are a few family-friendly shows you can take in, like the Tournament of Kings which is fencing/jousting/gymnastics and theatre all rolled in to one, with a decent "medieval" meal to boot.

On one trip, I went with my buddy and our chicks. My buddy and I had a day free while the girls spent the day at a spa. We mapped out a plan to check out several places on the strip. Our first stop was Gameworks. We bought an all day pass and ended up spending the whole day there. We never did get to any of our other stops. It's nice being able to play quarter-eaters like Time Crisis or House of the Dead without worrying about dying. We got to finally play to the end of so many games. By the time we had to take off to meet the ladies for dinner, our trigger fingers were tired and our forearms sore from shooting zombies and racing cars all day.

Also, you can check out a show. I wasn't down for Phantom of the Opera but I agreed to go for the brownie points. I have to admit that it was a pretty good time. The stage is pretty impressive. Try to get tickets under the chandelier. Most of the Cirque de Soleil shows are really good. Most notably, Ka, O and Love. Stay away from the Criss Angel version. That show SUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS.

I'm actually thinking of going to Vegas next month. I might check out the Lion King show.

Shows can be very pricey but I'm sure you can get tickets at the discount booths for all but the most popular shows.

As stated above, Cirque de Soleil is really good. Stratosphere Big Shot Las Vegas, The Adventurdome Theme Park, Colorado river rafting tours, Madame Tussaud's Las Vegas (wax museum), etc. And you can look up what shows they have goin' on at the time of your trip--they may have a couple of family friendly ones.
