Yeah I really did get lucky and get marks four times in a row. They're like buses, you see none for ages and then they all come along at once.

Do we have a general idea of how marks are rewarded or does the "Its Random above rank 20" suffice ?

That's kind of the purpose of this thread, to figure that out So far the only thing that's becoming evident is that a) the amount increases as you get higher in rank, and b) the amount probably increases as you get higher in performance rating. I plan to split on different variables in an upcoming version of the spreadsheet, so that we can see if there are differences among certain specific leves, etc.

Also the graph suggests that there's a possibility that the performace ratings are "tiered". So that you get a large jump in reward at certain tiers, and maybe everything in between those tiers are the same.

Tiers would make sense because 100-199 gets you one bonus item, 200-299 gets you two of it and 300+ gets you three of it. So it probably affects other things like gil and marks too.

In other news, I thought of a really good idea for a new graph that I'm going to add. min/max gil/mark rewards for each level rank tier. It will be much easier to spot a pattern in min/max than it will be with average (which is what the graph currently shows), because you can't have one or two odd results skew the graph.

Eventually, I might also have a graph for every single leve, just to see if each leve has different base rewards or if it's global across all crafts. But that's a lot of work, so not gonna do it just yet. Probably upload later today when I get home from work.

I would just like to say, fuck this game's retarded RNG system for crafting marks. This thread honestly demoralizes me seeing you people posting all the marks you're getting, when I have been doing eight rank 20-35 leves each reset for weeks and weeks since shortly after the game came out and have a total of *1* book, only because I am over level 30 in alch and you automatically get 5000 marks from quests. Since buying collector's edition and hitting rank 30 alchemy about a month ago, I have a total of 2115 alch marks.

Also this reset my Uldah leves for alchemy? 1 1 1 5 10 15 15 15

Sorry for ranting, but this is literally going to make me quit this game soon.

Are you sure you've been doing 8 rank 20-35 leves each reset for just one single craft? I usually only have about 6-7 available across 3 different classes which are 20+.

I do all the leves I can 20+ for alchemy each reset (I'm 31 so I CAN get leves up to 35 supposedly), and fill the rest in with weaving (25 so I can get up to 30). I also have 21 goldsmith, 20 armorer, 20 leatherworker, 20 carpenter. Eight leves every reset without fail.

I just got to Limsa also, my alchemy leves for this reset here? 1 1 10 10 15

Is this game a fucking joke or is it just me?

Edit: Just found this funny, my goldsmith leves in Limsa, of which there were only 4, were ALL LEVEL 1. EVERY FUCKING ONE OF THE FOUR REQUIRES HEMPEN BANDANNAS.

Update with some new pictures and stuff on the front page. I was trying to figure out a way to get all the graphs displayed on top of each other, but Excel was giving me trouble. Maybe it's easier to digest this way anyway.

With enough data, I think one could easily use these graphs to determine the exact formulas for reward as a function of performance rating. Especially since average is seemingly right in the middle of min and max, it suggests a uniform distribution within the range, although further verification could come in the form of a scatter plot.

Unfortunately the probability graph is still kind of unstable. It's probably going to take at least 10 samples of actually obtaining marks within each performance rating interval before it looks interesting.
