My map is like a year old lol, I died and lost it and tried finding it but gave up. I barely even play anymore but I wanna start playin again.

I know it doesn't help much now since you already died D:
But! I write meaningful coords all over lil posyt notes and stick them on my PC tower with the server/world/whatever name at the top.
I do this too but then I forget which ones lead to which areas.
Another trick I've used in desperate times is if you die, log out before you respawn. Go into single player, hit F3, then log out and log back into the server. That way you can at least see the coord's of where you at it before you respawn and can make a mad sprint to try and get back there. Kind of silly sometimes, but it worked for me during ugly times when I was just restarting and didn't have much. I tend to stay in caves and such well past how long I should.
doing a new map and will upload it, finally got the server straightened out
Thought I crashed the server by looking at an enderman last night.
Soon as I looked, a server message popped up saying it was shutting down in 10 seconds.
new map as in new render or new map as in new map for 1.9? cause this map is well liked atm lol
and I still have to port stuff over
Map updated (notice direction is different)

neat, good quality map
Someone is building RIGHT next to me lol..
These daily map rendering are taking a long while and make the server unreachable while it happens, might have to move to weekly rendering...
Ragns, is that still Tectonicus? It looks different somehow..
That one called overviewer.
Ahh, I might have to give that one a try. Thanks!
It's a hell lot faster than Tectonics also which I'm liking.
1.0 needs to get here sooner, I've not played Minecraft extensively since 1.6, so I'm hoping Notch's month of bug fixes will make for noticable performance improvements so I can actually get around to exploring the new shit as well as playing with the new'ish half-step blocks and pistons.

You mean, Notch's month of wasting time, posting masturbation jokes? >.> I'm not getting my hopes up.
Man, I haven't been on in a little over a week and theres a ton of new structures on the new map. Whats with the disjoint sections of map (and theres shit built there? some kinda admit teleport?) in the south and people mapping huge lines in the west/northwest? Doesn't that hinder the server or at the very least make generating maps that much more painful?
The random islands would likely be double-nether-portal accessed.
Ooooh, never thought of that. Good point. Speaking of which, is there no option to show portals? And is the night view supposed to work, I get pure black.
Oh, and I've seen that Tectonicus has the ability to map nether, does this program and would it be worth posting (I have no idea if it would look good, I've seen Tectonicus "cave" views and those are unintelligible usually)
They're such minor features that I really wonder if its worth the time since, at least for tectonicus, multiple layers are done on completely seperate passes which ist just bad for render time and file space.
The night view was neat, good for finding peoples structures that are small or obfuscated on large maps (just zoom out, flip to night, spot someone, zoom in, flip back to day). Otherwise its not a very useful render for the time spent making it.
Cave view had mixed results. Without being able to rotate in 3D and with no surface shown as a frame of reference, its hard to see where the caves are in relation to everything else. Its also a pain to not have them blocked by other caves from the rendered PoV. Thats assuming a thin cave distribution. I've seen cave maps generate a a virtually solid mass where you couldn't make heads or tails of anything.
