also base level midgard was actually too big for minecraft, it needs a smaller scale lol

How exactly do you plan multi-user large scale projects anyway? The game doesn't exactly let you lay down blueprints or anything aside from placeholder blocks. Custom serverside tilesets would be nice for that reason though, having a range of special blocks for mapping things out.

Doesn't mean you can't lay your own plans out on graph paper or a 3D modeling program or whatnot.

The real challenge is having a bunch of random people help build based off your plans, and them being able to follow them.

Meaning, you need survey staking (lay torches out at corners of building sections, or other key points, or signs if something more detailed is necessary) and GPS (there's mods for that) and a thread explaining instructions to the builders.

If I were to plan many users using the blueprints I generate I would give them a 3D subsection of the blueprint that is 'theirs'.
e.g. (30, 30, 30) to (40, 40, 40)

The game could use a variation of the 'air' block (the blocks which fill the air, not clouds, the air itself, yes these are blocks) with an outline. With this you could mark a structure and blocks could be placed on them just like they can be placed over the current air blocks. The only drawback to this is someone has to sit there and outline it all which means it'd only really make sense for a project requiring rare blocks which must be gathered over a longer period of time. Or perhaps you have one person who lays the outline and then others who come behind and fill in, i.e. outliners, gatherers and builders.

I could write this outline block but it'd require including it in the game and giving the block to users to use, we'd have to dupe it or make it infinite.

As much as I like flint and steel for effect, I think it's got to go. If torches aren't enough, pass out some lightstone. Flint and steel has been causing far too much grief, it's the new TNT.
