Basically, the grinders are supposedly putting a bit of a load on the CPU. Not sure why you guys aren't just using creative anyways with the way players are doing their business on the server.
There have been a few times where people are using a grinder and it feels like they fell asleep at it or something the lag will get pretty crazy and they wont talk or anything for a long period of time. I haven't seen it too recently though but i also haven't been on as much.
Hmm, that's strange. the grinders are designed to do 5 minutes of spiders and no more, to prevent people from afking and building up like 4000 spiders in the area.
is it something to worry about ragns, or is it within acceptable bounds?
got bored built a small cave dwelling

hmm seems like helm or motsy is making a mountain in creative so gonna put on putting shit in until they have that done so I can do more then just one order sorry kit
It's Kit and I doing the mountain.
hey psion do you know how to make an arrow farm
i have a skel spawn near my base and would like to get one going
i perfer the bow over the sword
a found a few video on makeing them but none for 1.1
also im tired of waiting for 1.2 i wish it was out already
The concept of a arrow farm should still apply for 1.1. dig out an area around the spawner that's 2 above and 2 below it (5 high total, with spawner in center height), and dig an area 9 x 9 with the spawner in the center. (it's really 8 x 8 x 3 high, with the spawner in the middle height and the center being the corner of the block with the lower x and z coordinates, but if you don't want to bother with figuring out how to do that, just make it 9 x 9 lol. the extra height is because the spawning area is where the mob's feet spawn, so if you don't add that extra height they will spawn with their head in the rock sometimes and die lol.)
Make sure the block you're going to wait on for the items to drop to you is no further than 16 blocks away from the spawner, or it won't activate.
dig out the area around the spawner, and dig some more down, so that the skeletons fall down at least 7 blocks or so below the spawner, so that they don't prevent the spawner from conjuring more skellys. (you can only have up to 6 mobs in a 17 x 17 x9 high area around the spawner, with the spawner in the center) at the bottom of the pit, you can add water flows to carry and channel them into a narrow funnel, and take them via water flow at least ~15 blocks away from the spawner, to allow room for you to kill them without them getting too close to the spawner and applying toward the mob cap.
at the end of the narrow tunnel, alternate water and signs going straight up, forming a "mobavator". the skellys heads get stuck in the water, they swim up, get a breath of air from a sign, then their head gets stuck in the next water block and they swim up again. repeat till they reach a bit higher than the mob spawner, and put your lava blade kill spot there.
Have the drops funnel into a water channel that then brings them to your feet.
Voila! skelly farm.
Now if you want to make it an exp farm instead, you can do so, but you would have to have the skellys fall down through water held up by signs, to a water channel 3 blocks lower than that, to prevent fall damage, then channel them into another pitfall where they fall down 22 blocks onto fences with water over them (adjust it till they die in one hit barehanded), then take them up via mobavator to a killpoint that's far enough away from the spawner to avoid applying to the 6 mob limit. (aka opposite side of spawner from where your afking at.) you can then kill them enmass with a spash healing potion, or whack em one by one.
If all you want is the drops though, just use a lava blade.![]()
i though the lava blade didnt work anymore if thats true then nevermind i know how to build
for some reason i was thinking items drops could only be gained through killing them yourself
Hey groundchan if i found and located a bunch of spawn block could you relocated them to a square i chose
i think i could do it with pistons but it would take me months to move all them where i want considering some of the are a few 1000 squares away
my idea is to make an arena under my castle and you push a button and it sends waves at you depending on how i set it up
and or get monster eggs and use dispensers but id perfer to stay away from that cause i know some people who would abbuse them if the broke into my redstone area
if not then ima just go make it in solo then cause i dont think ima move them to set up
waves of monsters lol unless your using bow is not gonna work very well. I mean I can only place the blocks just you know make the areas you want the spawners in keep in mind the spawn distance thingy.
you know what ima go into solo build it and if it work ill talk to you later about it if its a fail well at least i tried
i was thinking of doing a dungeon with npc in cells and an arena for people to fight to the death or for exp
all under the castle
as cool as that sounds lol multiplayer lag makes sword usage harder bows not so much
well the way i wanna try and set it up you wouldnt be fighting more than 4 or more mobs at once
Sadly, you cannot push spawner blocks with pistons, as they contain entity data or some such shit. Same deal with furnaces and crafting tables and the like.
and only some of the newest items, such as spider eyes and ghast tears, require the mob to be killed by the player. the "old drops" will drop like normal regardless of how the mob dies.
Dunno if it has been mentioned before but Mojang just hired the Bukkit team.

once api gets introduced lets convince ragns to implement this mod
to repair creeper and fire and tnt damage
