Server down?
Ok.....this is probably a stupid question but, could someone find my base and tell me why my trees aren't growing? I believe i'm south of the spawn.....but not sure, i know if you go a little off my shore you can see the giant pirate ship there, and further is the airplane and wily's castle.
I have it setup with a roof and torches, so theoreticaly they should be growing but....well, 3 grew, and the rest haven't. its been like 5 days.....halp.
They have 4-5 blocks of space above them? Also, the chunk has to be active for trees to go(someone needs to be there).
Checked on my giant golden dragon statue the other day, looks like swiss cheese now. Thanks, Creepers.
Hey Sono, a creeper caught me on the bridge outside your corporation and set off your HILARIOUS trap. I fixed the bridge, but you'll have to reset the trap.
Was in the patch notes today, anyone know if that's the dupe exploit people been abusing on the server, or some other problem?* Did some patching client side to prevent duplicated entities
I think that's people just being able to log themselves in multiple times?
I had a ceiling with 7 blocks of room for them to grow (followed what it said on wiki), put torches ALL around, so they all have a form of light to grow, but only 3/70 (yes, 70) grew, which is extremely strange, because there's nothing different about where they are compared to the rest. i even broke out the top layer above them to see if sunlight helped, no good. so i'm stumped. Maybe i should attribute it to just MP glitchyness?
From my experience growing trees, they are very random when it comes to growing times. Even though no "official" source says it, I think horizontal spaces play a factor in growing too, because i've had trees with plenty of vertical room not grow for days when in enclosed spaces(with plenty of light).
I had just read some guide on how to force a tree to grow extra tall as well. Apparently, at the instance of growing, if you place a 3x3 loop 3 spaces above ground level, positioned so that the trunk grows through it, the tree will see that loop as the new ground level and grow another 4 blocks higher from that point.
I want to test it out with multiple loops to see if you can essentially get a 50 story tree with one sapling by placing a ton of loops suspended in the air with a 3 block space between each one.
I tried the loop thing before, and it's been ages and the tree is still a shrub.
On the tree subject, how much light do you need exactly for a tree to grow? I built myself an underground greenhouse that's 6 spaces in height, with the roof being all glass, so I figured sunlight would hit them easily and prevent them from unrooting themselves, but that wasn't the case apparently.
Yeah, unless I'm doing it entirely wrong, it doesn't appear to work at all. I just left the game on with a 1-loop and a 3-loop setup, torches next to the saplings, outside, etc. They haven't grown whatsoever.
The guide says "stone" for the loops, but whether that means cobblestone or solid stone, or if it even matters at all what material it is... meh.
Could also try to pull the saplings up and replant them after setting up your room. There's a possibility that if conditions weren't right for it when it was first planted, it won't matter what you change afterwards until you replant it, and it can re-check the environment at that time.
Not sure if that's the case or not, but the minecraft wiki suspects it. Can't hurt to just replant them anyways, might get a few more to grow.
Sometimes it just takes forever for trees to grow. I can remember making a forest in a different server and I would plant 100 saplings at a time. It would take a few minutes for some to grow. Others would take hours, and others still would take days. Also, I put torches on all four sides of each sapling. Some would grow at night that way.
how's spawn look lol.
Um, fine. Why?
Spawn chunk is locked, can't modify anything on it, so no griefing it thankfully.
How big is a chunk anyways?
