The hole goes all the way through the world.

Edit: Weird. After walking around town a bit and going to /home, the chunk reappeared. I had someone else log on and check the area, and it was missing for him too. Then it reappeared for him after he went to /home.

Could be a bug related to the way Notch adjusted the frequency of active chunks being saved. Shit is still quirky, but at least he fixed whatever was causing the CPU usage to triple/quadruple from its usual amount on the server end of things.

I still mess around on the server when I'm not terribly busy. But you're right it's been super quiet lately

I think people are just kinda waiting to see what happens next. It just entered beta, which means it's still quite buggy and nothing much new has been added yet.

While it's a shame to reset what we've built so far, now that duping has been supposedly fixed, and we have survival in multiplayer, I imagine the next logical step would be to wait until beta gets stabilized a bit and then reset the world at some point. Maybe after an update that adds something (new terrain, minerals, natural materials, etc.) that only freshly generated worlds will see.

At this stage, Minecraft isn't really suited for long-term building up of a world, as there isn't much to keep you involved once you've built your stuff. Though it seems just great for short "rounds" of building, e.g. start a fresh world, build it up for a few weeks, then restart again. Though hopefully, Notch will add post-building content for something to do once you've already got your obsidian castles and diamond palaces squared away. "Survival" becomes less of an issue once you've fortified your permanent residents, though with duping fixed you still have to watch yourself when out mining and gathering materials.

Though, there are some fairly easy (and evil) things Notch could do to accomplish that, such as adding experience points, levels, more variety of equipment, and rare drops. Basically making FFXIcraft, but you have to build your own Jeuno. And crafting doesn't suck.

Was messing around on the server not to long ago and I must say Liber, all that stuff you built... wow!

Also Sono xD!!! the signs in your SONO building had me cracking up, especially when I got to the super solider floor and there were 3 spiders and 2 zombies waiting for me.

Everythings still pretty much intact tho, my castle now has a road going to helms O.o!

More also... Llimona!?!? what is that thing you built?! It looks like it took your months to clear all that and do whatever you did, your future tunnel is pretty awesome too xD

Little bit more info: I've been playing FFXI since ps2 release, alpha tester for FFXIV, and that's about it.

Also sky fortresses are really hard to do well, I think im going to bomb the one I have and just make a castle like everyone else.

I really want him to add some sort of private LAN hosting support. I'd like to play in my pre-existing world with only 1 or 2 other people. Unless there's already ways to do such a thing through admin stuff?

Copy world folder over to the folder the server resides in and then have the clients join up to it?

Granted your server will still need net access to grab any user skins and what not, not sure if there's an easy way of turning that off.

Machine gun. The second switch should be on a block next to the dispenser, or connected to it by redstone. Turn it on. When you activate the first switch, the circuit will activate and autotrigger repeatedly. Run out of arrows in realistic times, never trust action movies again!

Played a bit in my single player... punched a squid to death, he gave me an ink sac! walked around a bit and found a black sheep so I punched the black wool off him then punched a white sheep and then crafted the white wool and ink sac together to make more black wool.

Or you can splash any dye directly on the sheep and then punch the pre-dyed wool right off of them, potentially tripling the output of a single dye.

The only thing I'm disliking about these updates is that I don't get to see any new things like Lapis Lazuli, Birch trees, Conifer trees, etc. in my world unless I travel the stupid amount of distance it takes to load fresh, new chunks. I had to do some pretty ridiculous inter-dimensional hoofin' just to get somewhere that simply had a chance to yield Lapis Lazuli.

Also, Squids are so stupid buggy, they love to just swim in to the ground and get stuck. Kinda' hard to harvest them without running out of air because of it.
