checklist for building shit that passes through several other peoples' territory:

-is this really fucking necessary?
-will it not look like a dilapidated piece of shit?

Trying to get like... wooden support with Iron buckles behind, I dont even know if I like the idea D:

edit, before I had the logs going all the way to top and bottom I had them broken up with 1 block of cobble on first and 8th block as well

Various ideas, not all of which may mesh well together but can pick and choose:

Have the supports come out from the wall, instead of be embedded in the wall;
Use mossy stone here and there;
Use smooth stone for some sections;
Add tower segments (semicircles bulging out from the wall every so often with windows, you know what I mean);
A combination of tower segments and wood supports used in some artistic manner to break up patterns;
Have parts of the wall come above the normal height of the surrounding wall;
Add portals or secured gates here and there (not big grand entrances, just secured side doors and such);
Add little basins for torches here and there, rather than sticking a torch directly on the wall it can sit on a platform or other artistic projection from the wall;
Instead of wood supports like you have, add a similarly-constructed decorative strip every so often, that might even come out of the wall at some point to give it depth and some architectural flair (columns, molding, etc).

Just be careful not to try too hard. Just pick a simple elegant design that isn't plain, and be consistent with it, without going overboard. Consistency of a unique design throughout a structure that brings it together > a busy complicated design to show off how non-plain you can make it.
