I'm also assuming it has to be dark just like with any other monster? I already have the giant underground cavern at bedrock that is way bigger than it should be.

My understanding is that a lit cave is much better for spawning slimes, for whatever reason.
Slimes can spawn in any light level, while other monsters need darkness. By lighting up the basement you cut out all the chances of other monsters spawning and force only slimes, or animals if somehow you got grass at bedrock.
:/ server keeps DCing me every several minutes orz
I tried to make a slime spawning room in anticipation for the next update, but it has yet to be successful. Minecraft wiki said something about a 9x9 room 5 blocks high at bedrock would suffice, so that's what I did. Then I torched the hell out of it. I check every few hours or whatever, and have yet to find any of these little bastards. I've never even seen one.
For some reason, slimes are very picky about what chunks they'll spawn in... best advice is to try to make a cave in a few different chunks until you hit slimedirt, I guess.
Check this thread: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/...-spawn-slimes/
It has a download where you enter the word seed, which for our world, the seed within the parenthesis and including the - sign, is (-1793085124848417140). Then you enter the x and z coordinate boundries where you want to check, which you can find with the F3 key and going from there. The program uses the world seed to determine if there's any chunks within the boundrys you gave it and spits out the coordinates where slimes can spawn, if any. Granted, I haven't tested it out myself yet, but it's worth a shot. It's just a bit tricky figuring out how to get the damn program to run, read the instructions in the thread. And as a protip, when it says things like: Type "cd {folder}" and hit, enter where {folder} is the folder containing SlimeSpawn.jar. Copy paste from explorer adress line (right click command line window to paste if ctrl+v fails). do NOT type the " " and instead of {folder} you type in the actual command path like C:/Users/Yourname/blahblah, without the {}.
<_<; But I'm sure I'm the only idiot who didn't realize this at first, being a noob to program commands.
A little off topic but does anyone know of a hack or mod for minecraft for inbreakable tools in single player? I been using cheat engine and modding the tools durability to 30k but with the recent patch it seems to not be working any more. Any ideas?
Zombe mods has a mod that will make your stuff unbreakable.
Someone set my blimp on fire...
Sorry to hear that Lli T_T
maybe it got struck my lightning D!?! One of Motys houses outside my castle did, roof burned up
ragns needs to find the perpetrater and spawn 1000 creepers on his or her ass.
Pretty sure that wasn't the case. There's a hole in the Hell tower too, they must have got on it through there. Had my last exam of the semester yesterday, I was planning on working on it... :/
Well, ill save any strings and wool i get to help rebuild it. :s I got some lapis you can have too. Any colors you need? I got about a stack and a half of white, and some light grey, and a few stacks of lapis. Ill try and collect any strings from my not so automated mob trap too, since its spider friendly and produces lots of string. I'll leave what i got in that chest you have right below spawn.
I don't really feel like rebuilding it all again, even if I had the thousands of required wool (which I don't) getting the shape right costed quite a bit of work. Thanks for the offer though.
How has the server stability been lately on Minecraft? Not touched it in over a month because 1.5/1.6 have been a pain in the arse to deal with. Barely got my house started, and am curious if it's still even there.
Anyone can tell me when the blimp fire happened so I can look in the logs?
Last time I logged was on Sunday afternoon (around EST noon), at which point it was fine as I worked a bit on its interior.
Is it possible to have periodic map backups, with selective chunk rollbacks? If not, sounds like a good feature for Notch to add to the server software someday.
Mann that's shitty. I was on last night at around 11 EST with Psion and some dude I had never met. I loaded up a map on my computer at home around 11-11:30ish and left the window open. I can check and see if it still existed at that time whenever I get home today.
