Offline or online. You can set the difficulty at any time, easy mode = no monsters. I, like many, was on board at Alpha and I may go for months without playing and then get the itch and play like mad for months. The updates are generally very good additions. May as well get it at beta price eh?

Keep in mind that once you understand how monsters work in the game and stuff, you really aren't too scared of them anymore. Heck, I have zombe's modpack so I just fly around and laugh at the poor creepers below me. Only things that irritate me much are occasional stealth creepers that blow a hole in my structures when i'm making something (and it's generally my fault for not lighting the area up somewhere), and the skeletons that shoot at me with their bows when I'm too close to the ground, lol.

I hate how much I still jump in my chair when I turn the corner and see a shitty-looking, block-head, low-res skeleton in the dark... or how much I fumble and misstep when I start hearing arrows being shot at me.

Heh, I started messing around in some of my worlds to set up places for pistons (not to mention farming slimes for sticky pistons, such a pain in the ass). Been a while since I loaded minecraft up, I had forgotten how addictive it gets. Wound up spending 5 hours setting up spaces for mechanisms and redstone lines. Heh!

That happens to me too!
Another thing is, this might sound weird but i could watch people play this game all day. I get addicted to youtube videos of people playing this game. Not sure why maybe because its cool to see how different people do things than me but i lose hours just watching them.

How hard is it to install mods on the server?

Like for instance, on BG Server you have the /repair command, /home, /spawn, etc. I wanted to put this stuff on my server too (i play with some friends on it now and again...)
