I would vote, but I'm pretty sure I'm still registered in Ohio.
Very rarely does a person switch sides once in office. You don't vote based on if you like them as a person, but what they stand for on the issues you find important. One reason gore lost to bush (Besides the FL bullshit) was because, as a person, he wasn't well liked. And a lot of people voted based on the fact that the guy had no charisma, instead of what he was running on.
Ether way, why not vote for a person that "Might" vote based on the thing you find important, instead of a the guy you KNOW will vote against what you want on the issues?
I'm all set to go as far as voting is concerned. I am already registered from last election.
I'm not going to let my vote go to waste, as I have too much invested in the future of this country to let some dumb fucks ruin it. I don't care if my vote didn't make the difference in the end - the government pays for my education and so do the taxpayers, so I'm going to repay the generosity.
In that case, in the 4 issues you just mentioned.
Healthcare: idc
Abortion: Doesn't have anything whatsoever to do with me. Again, idc
Taxes: Idc, once a again. What are they going to do? Raise my sales tax lol. I don't have a job. I don't pay property taxes. Irrelevant to me.
Bigger companies: Again another category I just plain don't give a shit about.
Sure is a dumb-ass nigga in this thread.
Don't vote for candidates, I don't care at all.
But there are six constitutional amendments on your ballot:
http://www.ballotpedia.org/wiki/inde...allot_measures
Refusing to vote because you don't like the candidates in the races is being willfully ignorant of the other shit that goes on during an election.
actually a lot of the candidates are proposing getting rid of income taxes raising the sales tax to 23%, so that definitely does affect you.
Bigger companies mean less competition which means they can raise prices on the shit you buy every day.
And if your mom/sister/girlfriend got raped and pregnant would you really want someone who would force her to have the baby? Saying that these things don't affect you is beyond selfish.
Not to mention you have a vested interest in job creation, unless you're planning on being unemployed forever after you finish school.
edit: oh and do you really think you can go another 60-70 years without getting sick?
Cream, not voting is fucking retarded. Did you not see some of the proposed amendments to the constitution in some states? Specifically one that omits the provision disallowing mentally-disabled people from voting?
In other words, if it passes, people that were deemed mentally incapable of voting, mingling, working, or otherwise being a productive member of society, are now qualified to vote.
Think about that for a moment.
If they didn't want the kid, I'd punch them in the stomach, lol.And if your mom/sister/girlfriend got raped and pregnant would you really want someone who would force her to have the baby? Saying that these things don't affect you is beyond selfish.
Would actually save me money, as I'd be buying less. So I could go either way on this one.Bigger companies mean less competition which means they can raise prices on the shit you buy every day.
Same as above.actually a lot of the candidates are proposing getting rid of income taxes raising the sales tax to 23%, so that definitely does affect you.
Medical field. I'm not overly concerned about job placement. Not to mention you have a vested interest in job creation, unless you're planning on being unemployed forever after you finish school.
Without getting a cold? Definitely not. Without getting something that needs medical attention, yes I do.edit: oh and do you really think you can go another 60-70 years without getting sick?
Either way you look at it, I honestly don't care about the issues. Just don't. Now, if someone was going to try to make some retarded change like Videogames are 100% taxed so when you pay double, the other half goes to the school industry, then I'd get up and vote against that person.
that is just about the biggest bunch of bullshit I have read in a long time
I just plain don't care. Sorry if that makes you butthurt, but I don't.
I only vote so I can blame someone for not fixing this nation.
Technically, the republicans are to poor people (especially blacks) as lions are to retarded gazelle. Call it, political natural selection. If the poor are too stupid to protect themselves from Republicans, well, maybe they do deserve to get legislated into oblivion.
Besides, who here doesn't think poor people are annoying? Say nothing of the homeless!
soda goes to college? what fucking college is that. I darn well plan to drop an Email/phone call to said college if someone can give me the name.
Soda, you say you do not care. The fact stand that you have to give a shit about something. Name one thing you care for and I bet we can find a way that the election will fuck with it.
lol
umad?
You're right, but this thread encourage voting on either side of the fence. Unless one party take this message more seriously than the other, it will have no impact on the proportion.
The real issue with democracy these day isn't people not voting, it's people not being able to formulate a proper opinion. Too many people vote (or refuse to vote) for the wrong reason...hell...too many politicians do politics for the wrong reason.
And while a forum post could in theory change someone's opinion, I can probably count on one finger the number of time I've seen that happen. When you compare this to the amount of voter convinced by fallacies said on TV, it makes your works look pale in comparison.
" the odd that it has any impact on the end result is incredibly small"
Not only is the odd small, but the impact is often insignificant. More than half of these elections were for a single deputy, when it was a majority government.
Secondly, you can evaluate the risk beforehand. When the poll are close to 50%, the odds is obviously not the same. If you feel involved in this election, then maybe you should think about it.
Made an edit to my post, so before you just dodge it. Name something you do care about, or give a shit about. We can find a way that you will get screwed in some way.
also, yes I am somewhat mad. The point behind college(4 year schools) is to open your mind. You are about as close minded of a person I have ever seen.
I wont lie, if all you do is vote and nothing more, you wont do much if anything. However it does not take much to get 10,20, or even 100 people to vote. You know how many people forgot that an election was coming up? I can name at least 10 people at my job that had no clue.
Odds are it did a lot of harm to me really... As I dont tend to vote like my co-workers, but still its not hard to make a small impact.
