    Ready-boost and win7

I recently did a wipe and clean install of win7 pro on a Laptop with only 1 GB of memory and I think a Pentium duo core cpu. The system went god awful slow after I got some software installed, e.g. Antivirus and Office 07, using in upward of 550-615 MB for just looking at the desktop.

I decided to try this Ready-boost with a 4 GB flash drive, and it seems to do the PC great help when opening apps and such. Unfortunately I have no way of measuring the boost it is giving through windows, only by noticing apps loading faster.

Has anyone used Ready-boost offered in vista and win7 and noticed a difference in performance? Perhaps know of a way to measure whatever boost it does give other than a "seeing apps load faster" type of deal?

I believe that boost just increase the page file size for the most part, which sort of allows stuff to load faster, but the information is stored on the hard drive instead of the memory, so it wouldn't be a huge boost

What it does is use the pen drive as a HDD cache.

Works great in applications where you have a USB drive that doesn't have shitty speeds. Secondly you're going to get better/more noticeable results out of an older system running Windows 7 (512MB memory/etc.).
