I tried making a Death Knight/Dark Knight/Shadow Knight type class since it's my favorite archetype. I'm sure it's absolutely terrible in the grand scheme of things but i really don't care. I don't see the point in having over 100 possible class builds if 99% of them are never going to be played.

I have a question about the exp points. It looked like in the skills window that the game kept track of you level in each of your 3 "skill areas" or w/e they are called, but on mine it always showed the same level and exp fraction for each one all the time. And since I had the first one longer than the last I'd assume there should have been a difference, or does it not work that way? I think I made it to about lv12 or so if that matters.

All classes rise equally until level 10. Once you hit ten, then only your 3 active classes will gain XP.

As long as you never swap out classes, your starting 3 will always have the same XP.

Pretty much this. You will run around and see a tonne of people doing the same classes, and there are 120 different ones. In Korea and on Alpha, I am playing a dual wielding planeshifter. I have never seen another person of the same class, and I love it. Reason being they can't escape my grips in PvP, and I am killing people, both tankier classes and ranged classes. I think the best thing to do is play something that you will have FUN with. A class you will enjoy and put the time in to learn how to play it best. This will be when you shine.

This game has potential, i expect a massive tweak to the labor point system for it to actually get a fighting chance at being popular though.

Shadowplay is making me think of /NIN just based on what you wrote here. Seems kind OP if its in all the recommended builds sans one.
I know those are more solo oriented builds, but what about party synergy? Any cool (duo) setups you know about that deviate from... this?

Welp, from what i've noticed, and mind you i've leveled up to 23 this beta, the class combinations are pretty endless. I'm sure there will be some OP builds that will get nerfed and some others that get buffed. I'm curious if the team that's worked on Rifts for so long is gonna work on this, because (while there was class embalances, and might still be) they seem to actively try to balance stuff.

I went Stone Arrow, but i'm probably gonna drop the Defense tree and maybe pic something else up (songcraft was what i was thinking, maybe) to be more of a true Glass cannon DPS. Dunno though. I can honestly say the depth of the game seems ... .appealing. After the casualness of FFXIV (which i am not complaining about one bit, hell this guy hasn't even beat turn 6 yet).

Saw a couple fools on dry land, no water anywhere around, riding on a boat, and harpooning their way across the zone... I wasn't even mad. Frankly i was just stunned. I lol'd.

That sounds amazing, wish I coulda seen it.
If nothing else, the game seems like it'll have a ton of hilarious moments. That alone might make it worth logging in.

There are definitely some OP builds out there, one build "The Defiler" (Occultism/Witchcraft/Defence). It's a Tank / Caster Hybrid which utilizes CC / High survivability to bring down opponents.
