this shit reminds me of when... the adventuring fellow shit came out on FFXI. I'm not familiar with other people's servers but on Garuda we had a line from the EN to the zoneline and wrapped around. Someone even went AFK as a marker to show where the 1 hour wait line was lol...

I don't remember having this kind of difficulty in the alpha or beta getting quests done. So many fucking people though.

Based on what I've read, either you logged in and were lucky, or you got disconnected, couldn't authenticate at all, or watched the opening movie without sound for infinity hours.

Seeing all the complaints about early access for a F2P game having so much trouble seems like an excellent omen for when the F2Pers start to join.

I was in the for the longest, got d/c'd (or so I thought) and it looks like this is happening to everyone now which leads me to believe its crashing.
Also, the movie on repeat happens when it doesn't auth your account properly. You can just close the client and reopen it to get past that.

I keep getting back in, I don't STAY logged in for long anymore though.

I've no idea. Just based on what I saw coming across the forums and social media. Almost like Groundhog Day, with every MMO launch being exactly the same. Complaints, issues, rage.

I attempted to log in to see how bad it was.

Went through the opening movie, created my character, logged in, and played for a bit. Got to about level 10 before getting disconnected. Got a bit of strange lag while playing that wasn't present in the previous phases. Unsure if that was network lag due to the server load or something client-side (it appears client-side, since everything freezes for a second, but who knows).

From what I've seen, they're also claiming a DDoS is the reason for the issues. Seems like a pretty easy scapegoat.

Technically a lot of regular people are trying to log in at the same time causing everything to fall apart can seem like a DDoS.

I'm actually secretly thrilled about the server crashing >_> I've been getting some rare mining points.
I've also been stealing people's unprotected trees.

I gave up on even trying to play much earlier in the day. I think that kinda took me out of it for the time being. Hopefully I can get in and have fun tomorrow.

I've spent probably 3-4 hours sitting in queues since headstart began, and I got in initially before there was a queue. That timeframe was 1pm-4am and 8pm-now, so about 17ish hours of time nearly 20% queue. It'd be nice if the client didn't freeze and require a force close putting me back in queue.

All the delays I ran into, in addition to not being familiar with the housing so much, resulted in not having a place available for a house outside of the pvp zones. Guess I'm either waiting for the first wave of land repos or rolling the dice on the pvp areas.

Yeah, I seem to be in a 1:15 queue no matter the login time. The game crash and start over bites. No idea what will happen come the F2P rush.

Just a few more days, for the flood of new people! I can kinda see why FFXIV moved their usual patch day to the 16th also haha
