Yep, Hackshield is terrible at being a hackshield.
So, I haven't played any F2P MMOs at launch recently. I had not realized how absolutely terrible the communities in these games are. I thought XIVers were bitchy, pissy little shitheads, but goddamn.
First thing I do in games like that is turn off all the general/shout channels, lol.
Occasionally something useful comes through...
Like a reference to Catbug, or Rick and Morty....
tbh, I love those channels.
Sure, there's a lot of idiocy... but I'm not above it. Bring on the chatter, lets have fun!
Agreed chari,
Also when are you gonna ride on the u.s.s Dickbutt:

Eh.. Attempted to play this today, sat in queue for about 30 minutes, tabbed out, tabbed back in and all of my monitors just started flashing black, idk wtf was going on never had anything like that happen before, relaunched the game tabbed out again figuring something just went wrong, tabbed back same shit, fuck this moving on with my life.
Also $20 for p2p is way too rich for my blood for 30 days.
Yeah... there really is no easy answer to this. There are a few important things to take note. First, XL Games opened up both the Korean and Russian client with 25 servers. The Korean servers went from 25 servers down to 4 and then recently went back up to 7. I haven't logged into the Russian client in over a month, but last time I checked most of the servers were also vacant, with the exception of maybe 4-5 servers.
TRION understands (or at least I'm hoping) the current trend that MMOs have gone through in recent years as well as their experience with RIFT. XL Games doesn't want to make the same mistake a 3rd time by opening up 20 servers just to reduce them to 5 servers a couple of months down the road.
I understand that ArcheAge isn't a themepark game, but even as a sandpark title it seems that alone wasn't enough to pull in enough people to warrant so many servers. TRION just opened up another server today making the total 11 now. We'll just have to see how this week pans out.
Some changes went live today. The AFK timer used to be 45 minutes but it has been reduced. From the looks of it, the timer is now somewhere around 10-15 minutes. You can now get booted from either the character select screen or the character creation screen. I tested it out this morning and I got booted around the 15 minute mark. But there are some methods that are still not being picked up automatically and most likely can only be done manually.
Scapes did admit today that part of the daily (or almost daily) restarts is to flush out any AFK players that the system is not picking up: for example players that are auto-attacking the dummies ingame. Not a good Band-Aid, but I guess it is better than nothing.
Oh no I totally get that, they shouldn't open a ton of servers all at once, but they should definitely look at how hammered they were getting in the first day and open enough to accommodate that (which realistically would have been like 4-5 more), then reassess as the week goes on and word of mouth spreads about how the game is and more users get drawn in. From a business standpoint, they want people to join based on advertising and word of mouth and the latter can't happen if people can't get into the game. Especially since I've seen hardly any advertising for this game over here in the states.
People on reddit were claiming that the queues would die down after a month, and I'm like "Yeah, cause those people that are in the queue are going to stop trying to play the game and most of them aren't gonna attempt to come back later."
meh.
I've been having an issue with NPCs and other players failing to load. All I can see are floating names. It's especially bad in populated areas. I'm able to play the game on high settings without any graphical issues besides this, but even on the absolutely lowest graphic settings there are times where I have to wait a few minutes before quest NPCs and players will load in.
Anyone have any idea what might be causing this? I didn't have any graphical issues like this in either Wildstar of FFXIV, and when I try to google the issue I'm not finding any help. Not looking forward to PVP if I can't find a fix.
It's something I experienced in the beta before writing off the game after experiencing the fail of labor points and such. I really just think it's NPCs being overburdened with interaction requests as the client itself doesn't seem to pseudo-instance their letterbox "cut-scenes" as you can see other people moving around in the background. Then again, despite your PC's strength, there's nothing to say the client itself doesn't have issues at certain levels of congestion. Heck, I remember Aion outright crashing when the memory it used exceeded a certain amount. That made fort sieges fun. x.x
Yeah, I think it might be the client? I've tried different settings on my graphics card as well in within the game, but I'm still having the issue. It's not just in those cutscenes, though. I also only have the floating names without bodies whenever I enter a quest hub or city.
i know you're just trying to be a nay-sayer which is cool but i'll bite anyways.
$14.99 (same price as most MMOS) and $11 per month if you pay for 6 months at a time so not sure where the $20 is coming from.
also sounds like a graphics card problem, you should probably stress test it
Hey, I just ran into someone in a bluegartr guild on Inoch. If possible, could I get an invite? I'm in the nuian alliance on my main. In game name is Sracsose.
I made it! Thought it'd be a good way to find XI people on our little server, but if it's a problem, I'll kill it immediately. Just wanted a BG affiliate on there somewhere. Also, if anyone else wants in, just let me know.![]()
Thanks, nice to finally find some people to talk to.
I ended up making a character on Inoch & have been playing that primarily since Kyrios' queues have been brutal. Character is Jaffar there & I could use a guild.
