Eh.. Attempted to play this today, sat in queue for about 30 minutes, tabbed out, tabbed back in and all of my monitors just started flashing black, idk wtf was going on never had anything like that happen before, relaunched the game tabbed out again figuring something just went wrong, tabbed back same shit, fuck this moving on with my life.

Also $20 for p2p is way too rich for my blood for 30 days.

My brother's pc had that funky flickering when he alt-tabbed out of the game. It would never go back into the game and had to kill the client. He never found a solution (and wouldn't let me have a go at it) but plays windowed with the res matching the desktop now, so it's a psuedo fullscreen. I like that way better anyways, makes using 2 monitors a lot easier.

Anyone have this problem where the textures just go to complete crap constantly? I also have phantom black lines appearing all over as well. My settings are max.

Yes. It's annoying as hell. Even going to character select doesn't do anything. I ended up ending task on task manager to restart the client and reset textures.

Tends to happen with DX11, but not DX9. I didn't bother to look into it any further, since I switched and haven't had it happen again.

having a hell of a time finding a plot to place my small scarecrow garden and start farming. hopefully can find one on Friday when the dirty unamerican nontaxpayers get evicted.


also, the texture problem only seems to happen for me after excessive hours of continuous play. I suspect it's some sort of memory issue.

It is Proth, they're "working on it" lol, might actually be in the patch they just pushed out, but i am suspect.

and yeah DX11 is pretty not well optimized. Would recommend running dx9

I don't suppose anyone has encountered the bug that causes one's PC to reboot spontaneously when you try exiting the game after prolonged period of time?

It isn't that DX11 is unoptimized. The game actually runs extremely well using it...until it decides to stop loading textures. I imagine that it is not loading resources given the way it behaves, which does point towards some sort of memory issue. Back in AlphaBeta I was able to fix it by dying in game and hitting a loading screen. It is strange when you run around and places you've already been still have their textures in memory, but all the new places are blobs.

I have had one other issue in DX9 mode where the housing areas have absolutely atrocious loading. I went and got myself stuck beneath one of the crafting stations because it took over a minute to load and I had the bright idea to stand in the middle of it.

yeah, it runs really well even with .cfg tweaks enabled. it takes a few hours before texture problems start for me, I'm running 3GB of vram and 16GB of system RAM. By the time the texture issues surface, I have only 2GB of system RAM and 300MB of VRAM available.

Happens to me as well! I figure that it has something to do with a memory leak.

My graphic issues with this game are such a pain I've stopped playing until I can figure it out

So noob question, but what can you spend money on and how does it affect you? Was thinking of trying this but I heard a few bad things about the game's microtransactions.

honestly after like a week with the game I don't see any of the cash shop stuff as being a big deal lol. labor potion is the closest thing to broken, and even then 1000 labor every 12h isnt much


customizable box hat is pretty fantastic though, would give you an edge in PvP if you made it properly for sure

And I learned yesterday for about 85-90g, you can buy 2 apex at current AH exchange rates. That's a month of Patron status. I guess I know what I'm doing eventaully since I want to craft more than I want to PvP right now. I'm also too cheap to put money into a subscription for now.

And eventually I want to get the customizible music. Listening to someone play Song of Storms on a lute. I'm so jelly.

Takes way too much time and labor to get enough notes in a single song. I wanted to do it, but there are so many other more useful things to spend the little labor I have on.

Really makes me miss LoTRO's music system. So much more freedom and you don't feel like they're trying to extract money from your wallet. A benefit of not being F2P at the start, I suppose.

Actually, the wardrobe system also makes me really miss LoTRO's system, too. I didn't think that anyone could do it worse than XIV, after Turbine did it so perfectly. At least in XIV, you're spending a small amount of gil and just have to deal with the brokenness of the system for jobs that share equipment. Here, I feel like I've got to pay a premium and not even one that they're upfront about. Hiding how many items you actually need to do it. I know that people say that cosmetics are the best thing to cash shop, but I can't accept that you have to do it terribly to milk that money. Implement a LotRO-like system, sell cosmetics, sell wardrobe sets, and make it a simple click to equip system. Then, you can even sell expansion scrolls for the "wardrobe inventory" (just the look of the item). So you have a usable system, you make money on people wanting to have more outfits, and you make money on people wanting to keep more item looks.

Am I crazy or does that make more sense than all these obtuse and ridiculous systems developers are coming up with?

Hell I have been running trade routes to get gold to pay for Patron since my friends are slow at leveling and I find it relaxing to walk across the continent and occasionally sinking 8g to buy a work compensation (1000 labor) if I am running dry. F2P people can do just fine in this game.

I'm aware. I didn't intend to imply that I felt like I was compelled to spend money on it, but that the design of the system appears to be negatively influenced as a result of the cash shop. The counter point was that anyone could create a poor system, but other games have already shown what the model for this type of feature should be. Instead of trying to get people to buy in by using awkward design and a lack of clarity, you build a well designed system that can be monetized in a reasonable manner.

Obviously my opinion. I have patron status and use labor pots every 12 hours. The fact that it is monetized is completely fine. I believe that, conceptually, you can create a much richer experience doing it. Many games don't seem to want to do that, though, and they start breaking things just to use a cash shop as the fix. Even if I'm not paying real money, now part of my time-money is being used for fixing pseudo problems.
