Hmm just turned a 1.5 mb clip into a 26 mb gif. Any way to reduce gif size?

Gif is pretty terrible for video clips, but there are ways to get the size down a little. Lower the frames per second to like 15 or 10 if you can stand it. Try making the dimensions smaller and the clip shorter if need be (expect a few seconds of video converted to animated gif in any size above like 200x200 will be about a meg or so, like many of the obnoxious animated gif sigs around here heh).

Not much else you can really do about it unless colors don't matter - reduce color palette for further savings but often terrible looks (it's already down to ~256 colors to start).

I usually decimate the frame rate by 3-5 and then go from there, cutting out individual frames that aren't needed. It takes longer but it reduces file size by a lot.

1. convert movie clip to mp4 through Super or whatever you want to use
2. photoshop -> import video frames to layers, you'll usually want to skip frames, check Window -> Animation
3. edit your shit, get the filesize down, add text etc
4. save for web/device
