    SC2 Exploit?

Last night me and my friends went up against a 4v4 team that consisted of: PHAT, LadyGaga, Lsa and Asura.

    PHAT - Zerg (215 league wins out of 260. 115 wins 4v4 out of 134) - 82% / 85%
    Asura - Toss (161 league wins out of 185. 99 wins 4v4 out of 109) - 87% / 90%
    Lsa - Toss (110 league wins out of 144. 69 wins 4v4 out of 85) - 76% / 81%
    LadyGaga - Zerg (236 league wins out of 282. 132 wins 4v4 out of 153) - 83% / 86%

Lsa immediately left the game giving the other 3 control of shared resources. We had 4 zergs so we decided we had to take one of them out using the 8 pool strat. We finished off LadyGaga's drones and queen but she already had 2 hatcheries + spawning pool up. We couldn't finish her off because her 2 hatcheries kept pumping zerglings out. We then tried for Lsa but whoever controlled her had made tons of cannons to wall off. They then countered with speedlings and that's all they did the whole game. Asura ended up massing stalkers but PHAT and LadyGaga were making fun of us while pumping mass speedlings.

I honestly think this is some form of exploit.. What do you guys think?

Post a replay, that should make it clear exactly what's going on, their income rates, what they did when, etc.. if they somehow got a mysterious free hatchery, it'd be plain as day on the replay

Had a team do the same thing to me in a 4v4 quite a while ago. The replay is long gone by now, but they had two players leave immediately so that the other two would get shared resources and they just pumped out an army way faster than any of us could've reasonably dealt with it.

It was essentially them starting the game on 2 bases each, and regardless of how many more people you have there isn't much you can do to overcome such a ridiculous economic lead. I'd definitely consider it an exploit, but it's been around long enough that Blizzard either doesn't care or isn't aware of it.

I've delt with this before in 2v2. Its much more manageable in 2v2 then 3v3 or 4v4. If you do pull off a win, they get extremly pissed. But you need a rather good team to do it, and 4 zergs really isn't going to cut it

How exactly is it an economic lead? They have 2 people on 2 bases each, you have 4 people on 1 base each. Outside of being able to proxy or getting their first building (e.g. an even faster 6/7/8 pool) out a little bit earlier, or being able to save on some tech structures, there really is no economic advantage.

In all the games I've played, 2s, 3s, and 4s, as long as you survive their first push (mass lings, marines, zealots), it's an auto-win, since most people that do this don't have the APM to keep up with controlling the extra bases. Just be sure that you scout well and know where their concentrated attacks are going.

I did a match like an hour ago where my ally DCed and I just massed units and managed to win. I suck at knowing when to push since they were turtling and they eventually rage quit and called me a noob since I never let em expand.

Methinks having those extra resources on one player is just so much stronger than dividing them amongst two that early on in the game- I figure this is why you can't trade resources in the first however many minutes of a game. You can, in effect, build up purely an army while spending no money on your economy, while the other player does the opposite, and so early on, they aren't really in danger of building no units (first 20 supply or so, then, yeah maybe)

Best fix I can think of is just that players don't get those other resources until the mineral resource trading time has passed, where a player could just give all their money to another player without disconnecting anyway.

Yeah.. it's apparent when those 2 zergs can make hatcheries and spawning pools within those few minutes..

People have been doing this since vanilla Starcraft. You just have to survive the initial rush of units. Most of the time people doing this aren't even macroing properly and saturating their mineral lines.

Yeah, I've run into this. The main issue is they can tech up faster then you, which in turn makes them hard as hell to crack.

Rush the person that left, as all they're using that base for is minerals.
